well, based on the great feedback here, we are now under contract for a 360!

Was wondering if anyone has ever documented a boat online themselves or if this is not a recommended practice. I heard a doc agent will cost around $400 and doing it online might be $75...

Anyone have any thoughts?

thanks guys!

Boat/US offers a doc service. They are about 1/2 the cost of doc agents and it makes a stressful time less stressful to let someone who knows what they are doing handle the Government.

If your boat is already documented and you just need to transfer it...

See this forum thread I started (and ended) late last year: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/37543-Coast-Guard-documentation-transfer-how-longs-it-take . It's super easy to do yourself...it just takes a long time for the USCG to process it. Be sure to have your boat name selected when doing it, as it will cost you the same again to change the boat name later.

If I recall (and that thread may specify), it was around ~100.00 to transfer USCG vessel documentation ownership.

I bought my Boat through a Broker and they Handled it! I was going to say at "No Charge" but, I'm sure I paid for the "service fee" buried somewhere in the Bottom Line!!

My broker was willing to transfer the documentation on my boat for me for around $500. Did it myself for $94. Not sure about DIY for the initial documentation but I'd bet all the necessary paperwork and instructions are online - they were there in 2004 when I did my transfer. I'm sure it's probably more user friendly now.

Congrats on the 360! Great boat. Best of luck!

You do know this is the government, right? :smt101

I've been waiting 9 weeks for my change of name documentation to be processed. They did however cash the check within a week of mailing.

Did it myself online. And, as they say, "if I can do it, anyone can". Save the money and expense of paying someone (or some-site) and dig in. It's really not that difficult. Buy fuel with the money you saved.

Congratulations on the new boat! Hope you like and enjoy it as much as we do ours.

Congrats! The 360 is a great boat!

Can u trailer the 360?

Sure, why not. There a couple of these that are now available for a song...

Congrats for the 360. It's a great boat, my dad had it with diesels and just sold it.
I saw in the picture there is an extra row of bow rail at the radar arch through windshield which is a custom made thing.
I guess it is made for secure passage to bow altough there is no need for it.

Good catch melida... That is odd  Can't tell from the picture how its tied into the original railing near the front.

Anyway... congratulations on the 360! :smt038

It is welded (as seen from the pic) to the rail at the level of front port hole as a continuation of stanchion and aftest part is screwed to fibrglass.
