36 Sedan Bridge Owners

Wetpaint – While I agree that the boat is probably a great boat regardless of engine package, I have a hard time being comfortable with the numbers below. It’s more than just outright mileage; in addition to using nearly twice as much fuel, its going to take considerably longer to get to your destination, making those borderline trips non-existent trips. I know it can be argued that the additional cost of the diesel package will pay for a LOT of gas, but when the numbers get to this point I just have a difficult time considering it a good choice for me - and it is purely personal preference. That’s why I was really hoping the owners with the gas boats would jump on the band wagon telling me that the numbers below are crap, and the gas engines make an excellent package!

These numbers look correct, according to my limited experience. It's really a question of how much you cruise. In my case, I couldn't justify the extra $100K for D's. Just don't cruise that far.

Kevin

Well under 200K? I know the Lake Powell boat that was moved to San Diego sold in about a month for almost $190K.

Not sure the point of the post above - whether you're agreeing or disagreeing - but I'm not trying to start a pi$$ing contest, just telling what I've found.

Do a search and I'll guarantee you'll find them listed at or below $200k. During my brief search, a quick tire kicking session on the phone always got numbers below the listed price - that's without serious negotiations. Whether any of us like it or not, it's a buyers market and I'm convinced prices have not yet hit bottom.

Thanks to everyone who's provided input.

Just a short note to all of the existing or prospective 36 sedan bridge people: I have test driven both the gas and diesel 36 db's and the diesel propulsion is significantly better than gas. They are more quite, safer, don't smell as much, more reliable and they have significantly more power. Also, the service intervals are much longer for diesel- my Cummins need service every 2000 hours or two years.I know the diesel is more expensive but it is worth it for functionality and future resale. As far as trying to buy a 36 db, you can check Yacht world or marine max and there are no new boats for sale with a couple beat up used ones for sale.I know someone who bought a used 2007 36 db and it was missing all kinds of things and the missing things can be expensive: ie screen doors are $500. If you are lucky to own a relatively new or new 36 db, the value will hold. Searay is not making any right now and I was told the future version will be called a 40 db with a swim platform-no changes to the boat at all-same loa. They will be made to order with no sale prices and with little discounting. We will no longer be able to go to dealers and shop massive inventories. My dealer told me he wont be able to get much new boat inventory for the next couple of years and he is looking at sourcing other lines or looking at getting late model Searays at auction..

Hi all,
New on the forum as of today, I like some of the ideals I have read. Good to find a place to talk about the 36db. We have a 2007 36db, black hull, bow and stern thrusters, extended swim platform, E120 twin 8.1'.

Can you post a picture of the extended swim patform and where you bought it.

Thanks,

Thanks,

They are standard as of 2009 and most likely can be had through your Sea Ray dealer. The platform really makes a ton of difference in giving the boat a more finished look while providing a ton of extra real estate for hanging out, working lines, and hauling a dink.

Kevinmc,
If I can figure out how to post a photo in the next few days , I will be glad to show you the swim platform. Mine looks just like the one Overextended posted. It was in stalled at the Factory in TN.

Hmmm, look again.

You might have a few used options out there. Nothing new left. You might want to wait until they start heavily discounting the huge surplus of 2010 models.

Be careful, you might miss the bottom as it blows by.

Thanks Overextended, I understand why the differences in length by year. Hadn't realized the extended swim platform was added to the stock configuration. So here is how I assume the numbers work out.

2007 37' 6" - no swim platform
2008 37' 6" - no swim patform
2009 38' 4" - 10" swim platform
2010 40' 9" - 3' 3" swim platform (now called 390 Sedan Bridge)

Strange! The spec sheet on my 2008 lists 38' 4" LOA, and I don't have an extended swim platform.

Very nice looking! Wish mine had one. I'm thinking about looking into an aftermarket piece next year.

Sorry for any confusion...I wasn't clear in my first post that I would shop used, not new.

Kevin

It is 38'4" LOA w/out the platform, the platform adds 2' so the total LOA from the tip of the pulpit to the end of the platform is actually 40'4" (the floating slip at my house is 40' and about 4" of the anchor hangs over the front of the dock when the platform is even with the opening).

Overextended,

Thanks for clarifying, my boat is being delivered later this month and have not been able to actually measure it.

Love the swim platform, may need to add one to mine next year.

I spoke to my dealer yesterday about the 2010 version of 36 db; It will be called a 390 sedan bridge with a standard swim platform but there are no other changes to the boat. The boat will be made to order with no rebates offered. In addition, Searay's production overall will be 40% of what it was in 2008.. I am going to havemy dealer add the Seray swim platform to my boat this winter and it will cost $8,000... I saw a 2009 36db with a swim platform and it makes the boat look much better.
