I noticed that when you press the Starboard battery rocker swith to turn on, it lights up. But my Port rocker swithc does not ligth up. I am assuming the buld is burned out?

Does anyone know how to change the bulb?
Does the rocker switch pop off or do you have to remove the panel?
Is it a std bulb to replace?

The bulb can not be replaced. I have the same problem with mine. I ordered a new switch from Flounder Pounder and I will replace it this week some time. I accidently hit the switch and turned it off and I could not figure out for the life of me why my starboard engine and gauges were acting crazy until i noticed that it was off. I have been putting off replacing it for a few weeks now. That was an eye opener for me so this week she will get her new switch.

Steve,

Thanks. Can you please send me the part number and order info so I can get a new one from Flounfer pounder? :smt001

MUch obliged..

My bulb burned out too, and FC3, from CSR site, soldered in an LED with a resister, and it works great... Perhaps Frank will weigh in and say how you can do that too... It only took him about 10 minutes, but he is quite adept with the soldering iron...

If you call Ken at flounder Pounder he has the part number and the switch. i think it was only $8-10 dollars for the switch and it should only take a few minutes to swap it out. My feeling is when the bulb goes the switch is probably not far behind. The switches can definately go bad. I have replaced all my switches on the dash.

Jim,

I don't know if your 2000 is the same as my 2005, but here is the details for my solenoid switches:

The Sea Ray Part # is 681494. The switch is a DPDT Mom(ON)/ OFF/Mom(ON). Mine had the following part # on it:

Carling VLDA

FPMarine's website has the following parts:

http://www.searay-parts.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=vlda&Search.x=10&Search.y=12

The VLDA-1 appears to be the correct match, but the VLDA-2 below it looks like a match with an LED instead of an incandescent bulb...different Sea Ray Part #, but same specs.

The covers are hard to pull off (you may break one before you figure it out - ask me how I know), so you may want to order a couple:

See the one at the bottom.

And here Dave M. did a great job documenting a disassembly/repair:
