I purchased a 2005 340 sundancer last year
on the right hand side instrument panel near the acc.2 switch there is one called water system. When I turn it on I hear a small solenoid type of click within the boat. Can anyone tell me what this switch operates?

Sounds like it is just energizing the water pump.

It may do nothing. On my old 280DA that same switch powered-on the fresh water pressure pump. I also have the same switch on my 300DA but it doesn't power anything. The water system is powered from a DC breaker in the main panel in the salon. The small click you are hearing is the solenoid in the EIM closing and opening, but in the case of my 300DA, the wire coming out goes nowhere. The switch pads themselves do not have load and line power to them. They are momentary switches that signal the relay in the EIM to activate.

mquiet is correct...I have a 2000 340DA. I hear it as well.

What do you hear, a click? Try all the other accessory buttons that do nothing...they make a click as well.

It is just a click I hear - I have a separate switch on my main panel for the water pump on my boat to energize
I guess it must be just another accessory switch then.
In my manual it is called the "water switch" but no further reference to this switch is made anywhere

That switch in the circuit breaker panel sends 12 volts to the fresh water pump that sits on top of the hot water heater. When the switch is on, the water system pump can operate. Now when you are not at a dock you have water from the holding tank that is sent through out the boats water system, sinks, shower, head etc. If there is no water in the holding tank the fresh water pump will continue to cycle. Open the hatch turn on the switch and listen to the pump. If it starts then stops it is fully charged, if it continues to cycle the water tank does not have sufficient water supply, and needs to be filled. Hope that this helps.

OOOPS, my mistake, the switch I was refering to is the breaker switch. I think that the switch you are referring to displays the amount of water that is available in the fresh water tank. There may be access under the aft cabin cushion.

That switch does nothing on the late model 340
