340 SUNDANCER THREAD

about time for this thread!! woooo hooo

The start date was almost 2 years ago, but it hasn't been very active. The only problem with this kind of thread is that the info goes by the way side. You can't search the info very well.

I am looking for the transom bench seat for my 2001 340DA...does anyone know where I might find one?

Great Idea about starting a 340DA thread! Also a GREAT idea to get a 340DA!! The 340DA is argueably one of the best lines that Sea Ray makes--large enough to handle rougher seas, but still small enough to have fantastic raft ups while keeping slip fees relatively modest.

I agree with everyone else that you MUST get the genny. In fact, I'd argue you'd be hard pressed to find a 340DA without one. A genny takes full advantage of the 340DA, which is sufficiently large to enjoy weekends "on the hook."

BL: the 340DA is a FANTASTIC BOAT--go for it!!!

We are trying to get the bed situation taken care of for our new to us 2000 340DA. I am trying to find out what size sheets to use for the aft cabin when its a bed?

Thanks for the help

We make a great set of sheets for the convertible beds (Salon Sofa or Aft conversation lounge) on Sundancers. We have an optional fabric cover too so you can roll up the sheet set and use it with the cover as a decorative pillow. They also come with a heavy duty zipper plastic bag to keep dry and clean while storing in the cabin or cockpit storage. Send me an e-mail at info@yacht-outfitters.com if you have any questions. Thanks, Stephen

You have to buy a California King in the 340, baby - that's right. Then, you'll have to cut one corner off and glue it back on to get enough width. Use spray-on craft adhesive or something like that. Search my name and overstock dot com or mattress or something like that for details. I can't use the search function at work.

Just got my memory foam....Hampton, What type of glue did you use?

340DA Props - With MX6.2VDs

I just changed the props on my 340 this past weekend after 2 years of wanting, researching, & doubting what i felt needed to be done to improve my cruise. the 340's with the 6.2L come with 17X19 3 blade props. The most efficent and effective cruise was @ 4000RPM's with these wheels. I was only running 20Kts and burning 30 GPH - also could not get the bow down with all the trim tabs in. After a ton of reading on CSR and other resources, i decided to purchase Michigan DQX props of the same size/pitch but 4 blades. I was turning 5300RPM @ WOT so i gambled that this was not going to be too much prop.

The results were amazing!!! If i run at 4000RPM cruise i picked up 5 KTS and it takes less to get out of the hole. My goal was to lower the RPM and still pick up some speed. Now i am able to cruise @ 37-3800RPM and 23KTS. I have not run it enought to check my fuel burn but surely it has to help . Just wanted to let everyone with the 340's & 6.2L engines know that spending the money on new props does help the boat's performance.

As for the 340DA - we love ours. We decided on moving up from a 28' Monterey with T4.3's after our daughter was born. We were going back to a bigger monterey when a friend told us we needed to look at the 340. We stay on it for 3-4 days at the time with a 7 year old and a 4 year old and it works for us all.

Great post Todd. Could you share how much they cost, and where you purchased them? Also how much to remove the old and put the new ones on.

Trying to see if I can afford and justify doing it.

Thanks

Are you looking for the cushion or the fiber seat itself? If it is just a cushion they can be made... If fact my wife sews and she could make an exact copy of ours... Getting the matching fabric may take some research... My wife is very good with sewing she re-made the interior of our friends 55 blue water, and she has made custum sheets and cover for our boats... If you need the fiberglass seat, that will have to come from a parted out boat...

Hello 340 DA owners. We recently purchased an 06 340DA and love it.

Question: Does anyone have a suggestion for longer house battery life? We can only get about 2 nights on the hook without charging.

Hey Rod,

Did you get your genny back together? How did it go - the repair that is?

I got the genny back together, but have not gotten it to run yet... When I was checking a lead to the coil I snapped one of the male leads on the coil. I bought a new coil for $360, and plan on installing it this week end... My mistake was not marking my wiring well enough to ensure I got enverything back together correctly... Its on the boat, and I have other issues to resolve, like fixing my amps... My new alpine amp arrived today, and I will be getting my new stainless steel exhausts in about two weeks... Maybe by the end of the summer I will have everything working... Got to love fixing things...

two nights is fairly good, I just changed my house batteries and before I was lucky to get 2-3 hours on them with only the radio on...

Rod, no luck with tracing down a possible loose wire?

I plan on tracking down hopefully a loose wire... But I picked up an new Alpine 300 Amp on the internet for $138, in case one needs to be replaced... If its not the Amp, I can use an Amp in my Del Sol, I have an Alpine radio with no amp in my car...

Good luck to you buddy. That's a real good price you got that amp for. What kind of speakers are you running?
