340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Re: 340 SUNDANCER Speaker Replacement

Thanks a bunch. I finally got a "number" to Sea Ray and I'm waiting for them to call back.
They are not meant to come off. The speakers are screwed into that panel from behind it.

The only way to do this job is to cut a hole into the "speaker cabinet" from the cabinets on either side of the bed. Here are some photos of mine:

After I cut the hole, I found some hole covers. I think these were 8" and were rather difficult to find.

And the finished product:

Good luck!

OK, I just hung up with a lady at Sea Ray, and she said that the cloth covering can be pulled away to access the speakers. She wasn't sure if it's loose on top, bottom or the sides but she said to use a putty knife gently and it should come out with ease.

I remember them saying something like that to me... not true.

The cabinet is assempled with the speakers mounted and screwed in from the back of it. Even if you got the "grills" off, you won't have access to the speaker screws. To see for yourself, unzip the vinyl cover in the forward locker and reach into the speaker area. If you can reach in far enough, you will feel the screw heads.

That is when I decided on the big holes.

Battery questions....

We were on the hook overnight Saturday and my starboard engine would not start Sunday morning. Battery was dead. I started port engine and used emergency switch to start her. After running awhile the battery charged up and started fine thru the day. I am confused on why battery drained. It seems like the 'starboard engine battery does not use much load while on the hook. I have a few questions on the battery config and usage:

1) Are these batter assignments correct?
I have 4 batteries, here is what I am told:
2 in paralled for House and Port engine
1 for Starboard engine and helm controls (e.g. lights, hatch, windlass, depth finder, gps, chart plotter etc)
1 for generator

2) Does the 'House/Port Engine' batteries provide for all DC power in the cabin. For example, lights, dc outlets, fresh water pump, stereo, 6-cd player, toilet pump?

3) Is the 'Generator'' battery exclusive to the generator only. There is no other load on this battery?

4) When you run run the generator is it correct practice to run the 'ac converter' at same time?

5) When on shore power do you turn off all batteries and run 'ac converter'?

6) Is it normal after coming back from cruising to see 'ac converter' working hard after plugggin into shore power? I would thinki not since alternators should have been charging batteries.

Thanks for the help. This has always confused me and I ma trying to get a clearer understanding.

We have different boats, but for discussion, mine is:
2 port batteries for port engine, generator and house.
2 stbd batteries for stbd engine and electronics.
Always run the AC converter when running the genny.
AC converter working hard after cruising does not sound normal to me. The batteries should be charged. Your easiest solution may be to find that the stbd batteries are dead. That what it sounds like to me since it went dead overnight and then seemed to not take a charge while cruising. If you replace one, replace all of them on that side of the charger (which may mean all of them period).

Thanks Teekster, Do you know how that filler cushion goes into place / properly mounted on the back U section of seats. (Forgive the lay verbage but I'm still learning proper boating language). I have the filler cushion but for the life of me I can't figure out how it goes on / in.

Lift out U-Seat cushions. Place cockpit table in slots provided, long-wise=forward-aft.

Re-install U-Seat cushions. Place filler cushion in place and snap straps up under cockpit table to hold in place.

Thanks a bunch Hampton!!!! I see you are out of PC FL, I purchased my 340 from a guy out of Lynn Haven. I picked her up out of Destin at Legendary Marine on June 30,2009.

Ironic. I bought my 340 in W Palm Beach in Dec 2006. That 340 was for sale here, then, but they were asking over $200,000. If you don't mind, PM me with your approximate sale price. I live in Lynn Haven. I also looked at a couple of them in Destin.

We like our 340. Last September we drove it from Destin to Shreveport via New Orleans and Venice, La. We had a great time. You like yours?

I'm absolutely loving her. Every Thursday (weather permitting) is fellas night out on our boats on Lake Pontchatrain, so we all look forward to this escape. I'm still learning my boat. I came out of a 07 chaparral 190 ssi, so this was a major jump for me.

My '01 340 came with a flat panel TV, that one the two previous owners intalled... Just get an "L" shaped bracket an bolt it to the sliding shelf the TV currently sits on... My TV is mounted at the end of that shelf and it still locks in when the TV is pushed back toward the wall... Plus there is space for a DVD player and storage behind the Flat panel display...

Would you mind posting a photo and letting me/us know what size it is?

Thanks!

Does a company sell the memory foam that is shaped like the berth pad or do you just buy a queen size and trim it?

If trimming I am assuming scissors but that might get ugly after a while!!

Trim it yourself. It cuts pretty easily. We even angled the edges to match the contour of the berth.

My wife and I bought our 340 at the end of last season. It has the 8.1s and a gen. I think it would be a big mistake not to have the gen. We use it a lot out in the lake during the short amount of time we got to use it before we winterized it. I miss my boat.

I went down a couple of weeks ago and stayed the night on it. I had a couple of projects. It was good to see it. I had winterized it, but we have a little space heater in the salon just to knock the chill off.

The 340 is a great boat. It has a lot of room and some great features.

Hope you enjoy it.

My 340 has the same set up w/ a KVH sat input... It is easy to do.. Close the roatating shelf. Attach the brackets to the TV place on the shelf flush against the cabinet. Mark the place and attach the brackets to the shelf...

You have to buy a California King in the 340, baby - that's right. Then, you'll have to cut one corner off and glue it back on to get enough width. Use spray-on craft adhesive or something like that. Search my name and overstock dot com or mattress or something like that for details. I can't use the search function at work.
