340 SUNDANCER THREAD

was the retractable ( folds forward) hydraulic arch a popular option, issues rattling etc looking at an 06 with one

Has anyone replaced all the cabin carpet in a 1999-2003 or similar 340 Sundancer and can give me a ball-park estimate on cost? Not looking to do vinyl plank at this time unless the cost is similar, just looking to get something serviceable that's not stained to get me through a couple years lol.

I had one. Zero issues until one of the rams pulled through the floor in rough seas. Zero rattling/moving when underway. I'd say 1 in 100 boat owners find the arch useful in a boat this size.

Have you considered new runners vs new carpet? There is a fair amount of labor ($$$'s) involved in removing and replacing the carpet. I'd bet it's easily double or triple the cost of new canvas runners...

No but this is a GREAT idea, thanks

Any idea how much each route would run? Just ballpark

Did you do yours yet?
I am yet to get quotes for 340DA/375 2005 model soon
Replacing carpet for something like a sea deck

Picked up a 2002 340 about a month ago. This past weekend, the starboard engine wouldn’t start because the battery was dead. Pulled the battery and took it to O’Reilly’s to be tested. They said it tested fine.

with that being said, what’s my next thing to investigate? Does the battery charger charge each battery independently or are they all connected? I don’t appear to be having any charging issues with the other 3 batteries.

You only have one starboard battery? Did you check the other two batteries (assuming you have three total)?

I have 2 batteries towards the front of the engine compartment between the engines that are wired in series. I’m ASSuming those are the port engine batteries. Then I have this starboard engine battery behind them. Finally a smaller battery in the back that looks to be wired to the generator.

The two batteries on the Port Motor in parallel. (Mine are mounted center of boat between the water mufflers), serve as the Port Motor starter and the house battery. The Starboard motor has its own battery as does the generator. The Generator battery is isolated from the rest of the system.

I have the same year and model boat.... I have the electrical schematic if you need it. You should be able to look the the panel in the galley, plugged in on shore power and see if charger is working. Make sure the switch on the panel has the AC Inverter turned on, this is your charger. Open the engine hatch and on the firewall the charger is mounted in front of the port engine. It has gauge and you can hear it run..(fan). Usually it will show everything at 14 volts. Also you can toggle the battery switches to test the voltage, other than the generator. I hope this helps....

...in parallel...they should definitely be wired in parallel. :)

i"m sure they are in parallel if you say they are. I'm not looking at them. Back to the original question though. :)

I'd like to get a copy of that schematic, if you wouldn't mind?

ah! missed this post! Good info. We have the AC Inverter turned on all the time. I'll look again this weekend, but I think with the inverter running, the gauge on the galley panel shows both batteries at ~12v. I hear the charger running, it has a constant red light and a blinking green light. I think the gauges on the charger is around 12v too but i'll check again.

I'll take any documentation you have on the boat including electric schematics just to have! :)

Is there a way to test the battery charger?
Take a multi meter and put the lead on the battery posts. It should read 13.5 to 14 volts with the charger on.
If you're only ready 12 sounds like the charger is not working.

I get it scanned and send it to you.
