340 SUNDANCER THREAD

I had a pretty bad day.... can't find the receipt for the mufflers, I'll be in the bilge on Friday and I'm pretty sure the part numbers are still on the mufflers. I'm feeling pretty bummed out, my props were delivered today. I had my son load them in my truck and meet me at the marina after work. Man I was like a kid at Xmas. I opened the box and read the receipt and everything looked good. I went to examine the shiny new wheels and I noticed that the hole in them looked a little small, so I looked at the side of the box and sure enough ..... 1.25 bore! I wanted to puke! I clearly ordered 1.5 bore and the receipt stated such. So I walked the prop over to my boat and attempted to slide it on the shaft and it's the wrong bore. My original props are at a local shop getting redone. Just to have a good set of spares. I'm going to to call Deep blue yacht supply to see how quick they can turn this around. My boat has to be off the yard by Friday so it looks like I'm stuck with a short hull out once the correct wheels arrive. I'm going to drown my sorrows in rum, good night.......

Right before a holiday weekend???? Ughh....I hope you have some good liquor.

Ok so I got my props back after a mistake in the bore sizing. Deep Blue Yacht supply has incredible customer service. They paid to overnight them back their shop, fixed their mistake and overnighted them back to me. Can't ask for anything more than that. Mistakes happen and they way they handled the situation was without a doubt top notch. So I should have the props on and tested today. Stay tuned.....

Ok so I posted most of the pics I took while I was repacking my rudders. If you call Centek there is an older gentleman that has good knowledge of the retrofit to remove the logs and install the Vernalift mufflers. They know all of the parts that you need. I think I only needed a short piece of 4" hose and 1 piece of 2 1/2" hose. The rest is reused. I moved the battery boards forward as you can see in the pics. I moved the generator battery in from of the genny. I moved the other 3 to the center between the motors. I recommend battery boxes because of how close the post are to the fuel pump housing. Let me know if you have any further questions about this mod.

The new props are amazing. I didn't have a chance to log speed vs rpm I was only out for a few minutes trying to beat the storms that were rolling in. It made my boat run better than it ever has. Popped up on plane way faster and she runs much flatter without having to run full tabs. I was at 3600 rpm's and picked up some decent speed that I previously had to run 3900-4000 rpm's to achieve before. I'll try to post up the actual numbers once I get back out on the water to do some good runs without having to worry about storms

Would have been so very nice to know what Size props ???????????

Hi everybody, hope I'm not hijacking this thread, this is my first post and I'm not really sure I know what I am doing.
I live in Australia and have a 375 sundancer [US 340 ] V drive with 6.2 petrols.
The starboard battery bank is continually draining, I understand the bilge pumps are connected all the time but they run rarely and are surely not the problem. The only other thing that I can find that is connected even though the battery solenoid are in the off position is the aft EIM, I have scrolled through the wiring diagrams but have not come up with an answer.
I do not have shore power only solar. I have previously been under the impression that the Galvanic Isolator was continually drawing current but after studying the wiring diagrams I am unsure that is correct.
I would appreciate any info, many thanks

I'm not sure about your model, but some models have an isolator that sits between the alternators and the batteries. If a diode goes bad in that, it can cause a constant battery drain. Note, this is not the same thing as the galvanic isolator which is wired into the incoming AC connection.

Hello All !

New member and recent purchaser of “new to me” 2002 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer.

My wife and I hit the water paddling hard during our first 3 days.

Signed the contract Thursday, Captain’s Training all day Friday, Cleaning and minor repairs Saturday. Phew!

We are slipped at Mears Point Kent Narrows, Chester, Maryland.

Very much looking forward to meeting a few club members and interacting with the many helpful folks here on the website!

Same year/model here. Let me know if you need help with the fresh water readout display. Known issue. Fairly easy fix.

Thanks! Mine *appears* to be working, at least, it's reading "Full." I guess I'll know in a few days (or weeks) if it's stuck at Full.

Anyone know the 2 sizes of fuel tanks on this modle? I know 225 total.
But what’s the split? And I assume the genny runs off starboard? Anyone confirm?

And I know where fuel cross over valves are on a 330, my 340 does not seem to have them. Does anyone have them on a 340?

No cross over valves on my 2000 340.

116 gallons Port
109 gallons Starboard

I think mine is the opposite, (2002 340DA with 8.1's and V-drives) the starboard tank is the larger one, and the genny runs off that tank.

No crossover on the gas models, although I think in the owners manual it shows an electric crossover valve if you had a diesel option.

Awesome to know the split thanks!

116 and 109. Pretty sure my smaller tank is port as well. Will look again when in the bilge.

I never looked at tanks but as per manual #15&17
