Boat Info
1983 srv 225 and 1988 340 sedan bridge
Engines
5.7 merc/twin 454's
New to the forum but been lurking for a while ! I'm looking at any advice from experienced captains here. I acquired a 1988 340 with twin 454's sedan bridge from my mother in-law that has been dry docked and shrink wrapped since Sept. Of 2006. Does anyone have a list of suggestions to do to the boat while on dry dock before I put it back in a slip. I'm aware of fuel , carbs , tune up , water pumps. Just want to do it right and hope have a successful launch. Any and all info welcomed. Thank you in advance!!

wow, long time! Did you look at the interior yet? You might find mold if it hasn’t been inspected and aired out.

I’d squeeze and inspect all hoses and any other soft stuff, check hose clamps, batteries might be shot so probably replace them, if the fresh water system was winterized with AF it’s going to need a serious flushing. That stuff gets nasty in the heat.

Exercise the seacocks to make sure they move properly.

other than that, get it in the water and see what happens!

You have your work cut out for you. A lot will depend on the condition and circumstances when it was wrapped and put away. Did they fog the engines? Winterize properly? You're going to want to see if the engines turn over. Good luck.

Where is the boat stored?? That will make a difference if it needed proper winterization or was subject to freezing temperatures.
It is stored in frankfort michigan. It was winterized by a reputable marina.

The engines do turn over by hand , fuel drained , all water systems winterized. I appreciate the input.

So if the engines turn over and fuel was drained, you a lot of the way there. Just make sure the tanks are dry, no water from condensation before you put fresh fuel in. Good luck .
