Going to change my oil for the first time. Does anyone know what is the correct oil filter to use for my 6.2 and my generator??
thanks

What size and type generator? There's a part number on the engine oil filter, you can write that down and do a search for that, or just get them at your Sea Ray dealer..

Don't have the #s, my SR parts guy does. I can tell you it's not hard, especially if you have a powered suction pump...the suction hose fits into the generator oil drain barb and make sucking all the old oil out easy. The worst part of changing the engine oil filters; they're upside down & oil spills out when you unscrew them..have plenty of rags wrapped around the filter mounting plate.

Sorry can't help with filter #'s...but as far as filter removal I just wrap a small plastic bag around the filter and unsrew it leaving it in the bag for disposal...rags to wipe up any residual oil..Don't worry it's easy plus I'm sure someone on your dock can lend some advise...maybe a neighbor........Hum

A tip on removing the filter; as the oil is draining, pop a small hole in the top center of the filter. This allows air in to drain the filter of oil. All that is left is a small amount when you unscrew the filter. Makes cleanup much easier.

The 6.2 is a stroked 5.7. Any GM 350 oil filter will work. My auto parts guy cross referenced the Westerbeke oil filter number with a Wix number. Much easier to get filters from the auto parts than from the dealer. Probably a better filter, too.

Best regards,
Frank

Never Monday,

I'm not sure what year 340 Sundancer Mares1 has, so he may have the Kohler generator that was installed 2003 and later. I think that that Kohler oil filter is 359771, but I'm not 100% sure. I got the part number from my friends 320DA.
