whem I hook up to shore water, the bilge outlet on the port side at the stern is always dispersing water. When I turn the water off, the the water stops. I’ve also noticed the water pressure in the galley sink is much less than the sink in the head. Any ideas? When using the freshwater tank, the galley sink is less but the port side bilge outlet does not run. I have checked everywhere I can think of and can not find a leak...

Well, it sound like your fresh water system has a leak. You will need to hook it up to shore water and turn it on and get into the engine compartment to see if it is leaking there. Follow the lines from the shore hookup to the water distribution manifold. If its that much water you should be easily able to see it.

Also what model year do you have? That might make it easier to get some more specific information.

Thanks Kevin. 2002 340 dancer with 8.1l horizons. I have look over the entire every engine room. No leaks. Checked the aft bilge. I checked under the counter in the galley, you can see under the countertop by removing the garbage pail, I checked under the sink in the head, under the front v birth where the AC is. There must be a leak, but have not been able to locate the source or the wet area.

Hmmm I would look at the water pressure regulator if it only leaks while under dock water pressure. It is actually behind the plate where you attach the shore hose.

The bilge pumps immediately once I turn on the shore water and then stays on for about 3-5 seconds once the source is shut off

Thanks Steve. I removed the water pressure regulator, all dry there and behind the stern shower. They would leak into the rear of the engine room. No water or leaks there either.

More than likely its something in the engine compartment. Maybe look at the water heater - is the drain open? If its that much water that quick I am surprised that you would not hear it leak. Are you sure that its the main bilge pump running?

Hey Kevin. The water heater valve is closed and dry in that area also The bilge in the engine room exits on the starboard side under the swim platform, so that is not the issue. When I hook up shore water, the water pumps out on the port side under the swim platform. The only oddity is that the galley sink the water pressure is half of the head sink. And I can find or hear a leak there. The same water pressure discrepancy exists when using the freshwater tank on board.. isn’t there a forward bilge? If there is and that was the issue, I would hear it go on/off... and I don’t hear anything..

There is a sump pump in the sole storage for shower drain and AC condensate. There is a backup pump in there too I think.

This is the Port Side thru-hull setup:

Which outlet is it coming from?

Thanks again Kevin. The shower sump has a thru hull on the port side approx mid hull..

When I hook up shore water, the water is exiting a thru hull on the port side under the swim platform.

Ok, I am running out of thoughts. I do not know of any through hull under the swim platform. May be a picture would help.

Check the water source to your head. On my 2006, the connection behind the toilet was leaking. Do you have a water tree that you can isolate certain areas of the system? Shut down the supply at he tree and if its still pumping, your issue is between the inlet and the tree. If not, start turning each supply line (head, galley, etc) on to see which one causes the pump to start.

Thank. I’ll check some additional things this week.

Kevin. I’ll also post a picture or video where the water is coming out under the port side of the swim platform
