330 express or Amberjack

Now I'm thinking. All the pics I c of a 97 have the cockpit seat that folds up and stows in wall. The one I'm looking at has the l shape cockpit seat starts along the rear wall and runs up the starboard side. Was this an opption or an install and can it b stowed like the smaller seat that I have seen

Btw great posts with a lot of info. Thank you

From what I've seen both models come with the fold in bench seat along the transom. For those wanting more seating and comfort, and optional L Shaped Bench was available and it just sits on the back floor with two stainless hold downs (pull the pin and release type). The bench seat top is hinged to reveal lots of storage underneath. It is about 7' long and is not the kind of thing to toss back in and out of the boat on a whim everytime you want to go fishing, but it is removable.

We looked at a 340AJ that had the optional L-shaped bench in the cockpit, and at first we thought it would be an absolute necessity. The EC we eventually bought does not have it, and after running the boat for a couple of months I'm glad it doesn't. If you're using the boat for anything like scuba or fishing, the bench eats up a considerable amount of floor space in the cockpit; instead, we just use the transom bench and a couple of deck chairs for seating, and then fold the bench up out of the way when we need the space to move around. The L-bench and a cockpit table might be nice for entertaining, but that mission is better suited to the Sundancer anyway...

Again very nice feedback thank you very much. I love to dIve and occasionally fish but in my area diving is out of the question (for me atleast) so the l shape bench isperfect don't need anything but entertainment. Sorry for the high jack of the thread but thanks for starting it got a lot of info for my hopefully futurepurchase

good thread........

I don't feel like you high jacked it at all. We both seem to be looking at the same boats so any question you ask will help me with mine. Thanks again for all of the information and advice. Nothing back yet from the broker.

So far, it's a keeper!! (but according to some, I'm just a Tiara wannabee - who knows??)

It's funny you say that because my cousin has 31 Tiara and love his but said he wanted a 330ec when he was shopping because it was 2 feet longer one foot wider and a heck of a lot less expensive. The Admiral won in his case as well so they now have a 31 Tiara. LOL

If all goes well I will be able to give firsthand information to anyone interested in a 330 EC. I put the offer in with the broker and verbally all is good just need a signed contract and we are off to the races. Survey etc... to follow. Wish me luck.

Our boat was repowered in 2005 with 8.1's, which really move her. We cruise at 3200rpm at about 24kts, though I don't have fuel consumption figures yet. Boat tracks well, jumps on plane, and handles 4' seas easily (wife won't go out in anything worse).

I am interested in how much a 8.1 repower cost you? The boat I am interested in had some bad oil analysis. So might be an option to keep the deal together. Any info on it would be helpful.

Thanks

Just picked mine up over this last weekend in Plymouth MA. Solid boat, love how stable it is. It's a 2000 330EC, twin 7.4's and only 430 or so hours at the time I docked her in Glastonbury, CT. A very nice mix of fishing functionality and luxury. It's too bad I have to pull her our for the winter.

Congrates! I knew it would work out for you in the end. Also looks like you got a better boat than the first one anyway. I really like the 330 EC/AJ I am still in the process of my deal due to some maybe off oil numbers. We shall see. Repower might be on the table. Good thing is we don't have to put them up for the winter down here so once I get home I should be able to take her for a spin if all goes well.

Thanks,
I am happy and it seems karma was on my side. It will be a long hard winter waiting to get her back in the water. It was an interesting trip back and a lot of fun too.

We made the deal work and I will be the proud owner of a 99 Sea Ray 330EC on the 31st.

Sorry it took so long to post the pics but I haven't even seen her yet personally. Still on this tin can. Now it's time to start with the upgrades. The Admiral (my financial adviser) is gonna blow a gasket!
