Make sure you get an agreed value “yacht policy” not a “boat policy”. The is a big difference.

My 300 insurance is about $1300/yr in Boston. I made the mistake of sending the sea trial (survey) report to the insurance company because I was in a hurry and it had hull ID and other info on it.
Lesson learned: don't ever give the insurance company more info than they need! The engines were replaced already but because the previous owner couldn't come up with the paperwork right away, the insurance put a restriction that I couldn't leave the marina area until I provided various info that they needed.
