320 - Groco Strainer Caps

Why don't you go onto the Sea Ray web site and get the parts manual. The parts manual should tell you the size of the strainers.

Scott,

You should have 3/4" strainers on the a/c and generator and 1-1/4" on the main engines. The Groco part # for the generator & a/c cap is either ARG 501-B or ARG 501-C and the one for the mains should be ARG 100-B or ARG 1001-C.

There is a part # break, so you probably need to call Groco direct with your strainer serial # to be sure whether you need the B or the C suffix.

Additionally, we've seen several of the clear plactic strainer caps fail on Florida boats.......threads crumble and flake off the caps. I would reguest Groco to ship bronze replacements and keep your old ones for spares. If you have the threads break off a strainer, you are done because the water pump will suck air and the engine will stop cooling.

Thanks - Frank. The parts manual confirmed that. I will order bronze and tap the plastic for winterizing.

The strainer caps worked great. Thanks Frank. Now - I just need to figure out the best wrench to remove the drain plug in the seacock.
