3196 Aftercooler

Usually it is the intake air temperature at the engine's cylinder head or between the head and aftercooler. If it is out of spec meaning high then the aftercooler isn't doing it's job or air pressurization is very high.
 
Thank you, over my head but I'm sure out of spec needs to be defined. She ran more than 100 hours following this diagnosis with no temp issues - according to the gauges anyway.
 
I only know enough about the 3196s to be dangerous. I do know there are 3 generations of aftercoolers. First gen failed early and was replace by 2nd gen which still had issues. Make sure yours are gen 3, if not get with Cat asap, they can fail and cause catastrophic failure. Even with gen 3s, they are supposed to be serviced and pressure tested every 2-3 years.
