3126 FUEL CONSUMPTION
Hello all... I have a 450 Dancer with 3126 Cat's. I do not have flo scan and was wondering what estimated fuel consumption is... I generally cruise around 2000-2100 rpm's (75% load) which is approx. 20 knots. I think it is close to 3/4 mile per gallon....? Thanks, Mark

Here 'ya go:

2400rpm=13.0 gph/engine
2300rpm=11.5
2200rom=10.0
2100rpm= 8.8
2000rpm= 7.5
1900rpm= 6.6

and my personal favorite......1450rpm = 3.0 gph (about the speed your boat is traveling in your photo) There are trawlers that go slower and burn more fuel than that.

All the above numbers are per engine, so double them.

I got the GPH numbers below from the CAT published data sheets for the mechanical 3126TA motors. It's a little tuff to read, but I couldn't figure another way to parse the fields

RPM ---300HP --- 350HP -- 385HP --- 420HP
2800 ---15.6 -----18.0 ---- 20.1----- 22.9
2600 ---12.2 -----13.9 ---- 15.4 -----17.3
2400 ----9.4 -----10.8 -----11.8 -----13.3
2200 ----7.3------ 8.3 ----- 9.0 ------10.1
2000 ----5.5 ----- 6.3 ----- 6.8 -------7.8
1800 ----4.1 ----- 4.7 ----- 5.1------- 6.2
1600 ----3.1 ----- 3.5 ----- 3.7 ------ 5.9

Must be nice.... :smt001

Hey Fool, is that buyer's remorse talking?

The numbers I posted are for each motor....based on my logs, they are quite accurate!

Also, according to the spec sheets, they are based on having your motors propped to achieve WOT of 2800 RPM.

Hey Fool, is that buyer's remorse talking?

Na, no remorse here :grin:

Its actually quite fun bareling down the bay with the V10's singling along in the background.... as my cousin described best "running those V10's is like taking a huge trash bag full of dollar bills and throwing it up in the air every couple minutes, over and over again" :thumbsup:

These MANS engines make the top strippers jealous!
