Hello, I am new to the board. I have a 2002 310DA and am considering moving up to a newer 320 or 340. Does anyone have any comments on any improvements with the 320 over my 310?, except for the vberth.....Thanks.

Hello Jackson,

Nice boat and welcome here on CSR!
The step up that you want to take is not very big for the size, but can be big because of for example diesel engines.
I can't look in your finance but changing these little size steps also cost a lot of money when you do this every 2 or 3 years.
Why not make a bigger step? , for example to a 380 or 410 with nice smooth running diesels!

The experience also with other SR owners is that we always want bigger and that you better can make the upgrade as big as possible!

Peter.

Hey Jackson - welcome on board -

We have been having the same sort of discussion on whether or not we want to move up in size. Reflection is in such good shape that we've become a little picky.

Bottom line is, we decided that the 320 and 340 did not quite get us to where we wanted to be in a step-up and was not that far off from what we already had. I think the next move will be to a 380.

Thanks guys....you bring up good points on the size. It isn't much of a difference. Chris, I feel your pain. I am having trouble with the idea of giving it up because it is in great shape and has treated me well. We'll see......

I would second the notions here. Going from a 310 to a 340 is a small step. Go to a 380 and you get separate shower and master state room with door along with a nice sized galley. all things that are similar on a 310 vs. 340. We really would appreciate the separate hower the most.

Having made a similar jump (330DA to 380DA), I would also agree that the 380DA gives you a lot more of everything....and...in today's market, for not a lot more $$$$....In fact, the driving force behind us moving into the 380DA 2 seasons ago was the seperate shower.....and like Alex said above, the galley is a real galley with full size fridge....tons of storage, dual AC/Heating systems, a REAL door (pocket) for the Master and on and on....and when you get down into the engine room, the difference is really appreciated, especially if you do your own maintenance......

Speaking spcifically about the 380DA with gas engines (which 95% are) you will notice minimal difference in performance and MAXIMUM difference in ride...the longer hull with 13' BEAM will give you a very comfortable ride.....

And....as far as fuel mileage is concerned, there really isn't a major difference between the 340DA and 380DA equipped with the same 8.1s......From personal experience, my 330DA with 7.4L MPIs would average .95 MPG on a 5 hour round trip to Atlantic City whereas my 380DA with 8.1S Horizons will average .85 on the same trip....about an extra 12-13 gallons more....negligible when you consider all of the other benefits....

enjoy the shopping experience, but go for the right deal when it comes along.....

Just make sure that you conly want/need 1 head....and you will not be disappointed with a 380DA..

There are some differences in the 380DA '99-'04 models....my suggestion would be to go with an '02 - '04.....you will be assured of the newer designed 8.1 engines and some other minor tweeks in the layout and features....

later,

Hee Dom,

Why don't you give Jackson a nice price for your boat

Maybe he got also a customer for his current boat?

The only thing is that we don't know if it's a long ride from where jackson has to come? :smt017

Broker Peter.

Thanks again for the info. Now you really have thinking about the 380. I thought it would be too big of a step, but it does make sense. Hey Dom, when you're ready to sell let me know. The boat looks great and I'm only in Mass. No problem for transport. One more question.....A friend of mine has a 98 370DA, the 380 basically replaced that model, correct?

Jackson....although I am not actively marketing my boat for sale, I am moving up......so my boat is available.... if you are serous drop me a PM and we can discuss.....

The 380DA did replace the 370DA...both models were available in '99....the two boats are very similar, with the 380DA having slighly more cockpit room and a slightly wider beam....Down below, the layout is also similar, the biggest differenc from memory is in the galley layout, and the addition of a full size fridge in the 380DA.

Back in 2001 I sold my '93 330DA to buy a 98- 99 370DA...I specifically wanted those two years, because the arch was raised enough for me to stand up at the helm and for some of the other features introduced in those years like: vitracore cabinets, tan gelcoated dash and the electrically operated engine access hatch....unfortunately, in my search, the water ingestion issue with the 7.4 Horizons was just starting to raise it's ugly head, and a good fix wasn't really in place yet....I had to re-think my options, and ended up back in a 330DA but only a newer '98 model....it had all the features mentioned above except the stand up head room at the helm....over the next few years, Sea Ray made what I belived to be the permanent fix to the water ingestion issue with the newly desinged exhaust AND the newly designed 8.1S Horizons.....that was in late 2001 and all 2002- 2004 380DA's.....

later,

I can only support all that OSD is saying here. If you are able to go for a 380 DO IT !! And don't mess going to a 320 or 340.
