300DB Thread

In the cabin...... gawd..... how would you even get down to the one in the engine bay?
The one drawback to our boats is no room in the engine bay :smt021

Thanks. A lot easier installation. The original brass transducer was epoxyed to the port side of the ER bilge!

I agree no room. To get to the one in the ER, I place a pillow on the step and then stick my head and arms, while the admiral is watching to make sure I don't fall in, never to be seen again!!

Thought I should add an updated picture to this thread. Since we have a new 300DB owner on the board (welcome Captain B) I thought this thread should be resurrected.

Pack66Dad - I am here!!! Thanks for the PM and sending me this way. Your boat looks awesome and I can only hope to get mine looking half that nice someday :smt038 Hopfully overtime, I will have something to contribute too.

Oh yeah, I here you guys on the no room in the engine bay!! I really had to stop and think about that one before I bought the boat as I like to do everything on it myself. Then I said, heck for this price, I think I can figure out a way to work on it.

Welcome Captain B! You have a lot of work ahead of you. Look at my posts as I try to share what I have done to my pocket yachet. I have rebuilt just about every system on the boat and now a head job on the port engine. Let me know what I can do to help.

Hello: there,
Long time no enter to the forum! I have to replace my onan genset and y bought a westerbete used . Have no idea how to remove the floor over the genset the previous owner make so modification on the floor making it one lever and no
space to taker out. Have you guys did this yet? Did you taker out by the cavin door or the engine room hope no!!!.
Thanks in advance:

Jorge

My genny is under the aft port dinette cushion and I had to disassemble the entire area. After disconnecting all the wires (label them first) it took three of us with straps to pull it up and set it on the cabin floor, only to find out it would not go thru the little accordion cabin door. I had to separate the engine from the generator in order to get it out. Found out the Onan 4.3 was shot so I installed a smaller genny a 3.0 Kohler.

Ummm, I was afrait it wont fix the cabin door. But its great idea to separate both engine & mass.
I may use allure on the floor. they haved on home depot... thanks a lot .
Jorge:grin:

Cool, mine is an '87 too.
Do you have a genset or vacuum?
Take a look at the electronics I installed on mine last year. Sounds like you are looking at a similar system.

I installed a Lowrance HDS-7 and a Standard Horizon GX2150 with AIS on the fly bridge. A Lowrance HDS-5 and a Standard Horizon GX5000S on the lower helm. I had the networking components installed so all radios and GPS/Depth Finders are networked. I also had a new Lowrance B60-20 transducer and EP-60R fuel flow sensors installed.

Let me know if there is anything I can help you with :smt001
I'm not a DIY guy like AKBASSKING but I have had a lot of stuff done on my boat and I can always take a picture of something if you need to know how it looks.

No genset or vacuum but it does have a factory gas detector

I have a Pioneer wired remote/GPS/Depth-Speed Display/and VHF to add to the bridge and it looks like not alot of room on the dash im going to have to plan it out so i can get it all to fit

what kind of speed/mileage can I expect im thinking cruise=21mph? top speed=37?

if I have any questions ill make sure to ask you guys, its cold and snowing here in Michigan so not alot of progress till around April when its gets warm.

For me cruise is at 3200-3400 about 23mph

That doesn't sound to bad. Any idea what your fuel burn rate is under normal conditions? Obviously we all know that there are many factors that contribute to this, I was just looking for a ballpark number.
