300 Sundancer questions.

Thanks everyone. The replies and input definitely help! Pending survey, I may be the owner of a 300 Sundancer!!

Sorry for this question, but I can figure out if it is me or the Fridge. I have a DA300 2004 and the cockpit has a small fridge Isotherm 11049022 12-24v 42W, but I can get this thing to cool? Is there a breaker switch somewhere or is it just dead? Thanks

Mine is a 1994
Breaker and switch on console for cabin fridge
Deck fridge was an option see if you have an extra “accessory” switch and breaker

Would anyone know why the Taylor Made Part# 1721 Hatch Riser Arm Locking Knob turns a 1/4 inch left or a 1/4 inch right only? I cannot keep the 20 x 20 hatch open without the wind slamming it back down.

Grateful for your guidance.

I assumed that was how they were. My ‘06 has the same but they will lock if nipped up quite hard.

My boat is sitting at the boatyard awaiting four Mercury fuel injectors (part #885176) that my mechanic says he ordered from Mercury but that have not arrived yet. I've heard many people are having trouble getting parts from Mercury right now. It's after July 4th and I haven't had my boat yet this summer and it's extremely frustration.

Anybody know where I can get these? I'd drive and pick them up myself if they're located in Northeast US. I live on Long Island, NY.

There's nothing "Mercury" about those injectors - take one to a good autoparts store or fuel injection service and they can set you up - likely WAY cheaper - better yet, why cant the existing ones be flowed/cleaned?

Do you mean I can getter better fuel injectors at auto parts store (cheaper, too) then the genuine fuel injectors from Mercury? (I'm not a mechanic) I have the 5.0.

There is no such thing as "genuine fuel injectors from Mercury" they just re-label someone elses (bosch, delphi etc) and mark up the cost - very few companies actually "make" the injectors that are in your car/boat/etc

Well, a few seasons back we sold our 1994 270 Sundancer for a profit and got into a '78 Wellcraft Nova 250XL for the past few summers. Over the winter my wife and I had our first baby so we sold the nova to get back into cruising. I now have an offer in on a 1995 300 Sundancer that is in great shape. I've got my fingers crossed! This is a great thread, and great forum.

Had a couple comments about the flooring in my boat so thought i'd share a better picture. It was done locally by a friend - https://www.ultradeck.ca/

If you have an early 2000 - 300DA you may be able to use my templating and change the design to suit your desires. I can put you in contact with him if anyone is interested!

Going to add the walk arounds this year and also a sheet for the table top with "cupholders" cut into it so that drinks quit sliding off it!

Very nice. I like the SR logo and anchor. Why did you change the pattern for the area in front of Captain chair and cockpit table area? Not saying I dislike it, just curious?

Battery Layout

(I read a number of posts about batteries but didn’t find my answer)

2004 DA with the Mercruiser 350s, and a Koehler generator. From looking at the manual, it looks like the boat has 6 batteries, all group 31. They are arranged in 2 x 2 x 2 layout in the engine room.

My questions:
1. Are they in sets of 2, or sets of 3?
2. Are there single batteries to crank the port and starboard motors or is an entire set (of 2 or 3 batteries) used to crank? And which ones are those in the layout?
3. Are there batteries specific to cranking and specific to DC system (lights, fridge, etc.,) or are they all the same?

I’ve read some posts where boats have specific batteries for cranking and then deep cycle ones for running the DC system, but doesn’t seem like that’s the case with my boat; manual recommended just one battery group.

I’m worried about the batterie(s) for the port engine, and may want to replace them. We had a bit of trouble cranking the port engine yesterday, but I may have turned off the battery charger while connected to shore...

It broke up the pattern, without it there was too much area with just straight lines and it was just too plain. I have the original design with just straight lines but this is honestly a much better look (my opinion). Only thing I think i would have done different is to add a design / logo / text to the small foot pad that is at the captains feet on the angled surface. You cant see it in the photos but just a small detail that would be a nice touch.

Hey there. That is not a factory configuration that I know of so it's hard to comment. I only know of a 2 port, 2 starboard arrangement. If you search on my posts in this thread there is a complete detailing of what is on each bank (according to the drawings, which my boat corresponded to).

That's correct. The starboard pair also starts the generator. A quick and easy way to see the distribution is just to look at your battery switch panel. The left side breaker column is everything the port battery pair powers and the right side starboard column is everything that pair powers.

I stand corrected, my boat has 2 x 2.

Thanks for the responses on what the batteries power.

Did a sea trial on the 1995 300DA yesterday that went mostly well, the only thing I found "bad" was that the steering as VERY tight. This particular vessel has V-drive inboards. The mechanic that did the compression test said the boat didn't have power steering, which I find fairly odd and hard to believe, but I don't really have any experience with inboards and how they specifically work. His suggestion was to grease the shafts. Anybody have any thoughts? Aside from that, the trial and survey went well, and I'll likely be the proud owner soon.
