So the Sea trial went okay but we did find few issues with this boat. . .

COMPRESSION:
The engine compression testing proved to be within the manufacturers specifications. Note: There is one cylinder on the starboard engine that is lower in compression and is of concern. It is recommended to the run the vessel, re do the compression testing. Monitor and remedy as necessary.

Port:
185 175
180 180
175 190
175 190

Starboard:
195 200
165 185
190 190
200 200

SEA TRIAL:
The sea trial proved the engines ran well at idle, the transmissions functioned properly and the trim tabs were operable. The manufacturers specifications on maximum RPM's at wide open throttle is 4600-5000. The Port engine reached 4200 while the starboard engine reached 4800 RPM's. The oil pressure appeared normal, the engine temperature appeared normal the charging systems appeared to be operable. The back down test was satisfactory.

The port engine did not achieve the manufacturers recommended WOT RPM's.

It does have few other tings to be repaired
  1. The starboard outdrives bellows are cracked and worn.
  2. The port outdrives cable bellows is not properly clamped.
  3. The air conditioning filter and unit is dirty.
  4. The fresh water pump cycles intermittently. Indication of a possible leak
  5. Port fuel gauge is inoperable.
The boat is very well priced, owner lowered it down by a lot after the sea trial, ill just say its way below $35,000 but over $30,000

I don't mind putting extra $5-$7k into it to get it running like it should... If you were me would you get this particular boat.

Just a suggestions from someone who has a 94 300 with outdrives. Have the bellows, shift cable and gimble bearing done in the starboard side. I's also have the port drive done too.

Hi All,
In my 300, I want to run a new water freshwater line to the toilet. There is a piece of carpeted wood under the bathroom sink in the cabinet that needs to be removed. I can't find the screws to do this anywhere. Has anyone else done this before?

Thanks,
Chris

My AC Compressor comes on but want stay on. No water flow I’m thinking the raw water pump needs checking. I’m going to replace the impeller. Any thoughts out there

The one in the aft cabin ? If so I found that the first day I stepped in the boat when I first went to see it .

DjNiki4,

It looks like you're on Long Island and went from a 260 to a 300 -- am I correct?

That's what I'm doing; trading in my 2005 260 for a 2002 300. I use it on the Great South Bay.

My wife hated the way the 260 rode. Very bouncy even in a light chop and the boat will not stay level; constantly have to adjust tabs.

I'm trading up through a dealer. He's giving me a 30-day mechanical warrantee so anything that I find wrong he'll repair as part of the purchase price.

How happy have you been with your 300 this summer?

Any concerns you'd like to share?

Thanks.

Nope, it's got the 5.0s.

The survey for the 300 DA I'm buying says:

Engine (s): Twin Mercruisers 5.0 Liter MPI HP: 260 / 260

I asked the dealer about the horsepower and he told they were 300 hp. I then saw the survey and asked him why the survey said 260 hp and he said 300 hp?

He said because these engines are fuel injected. The engines with carburators are 260 hp.

Is this true?
