Total noob question. Does water that drains from the sinks go to a different tank than water that drains from the vaccuflush system? I need to flush/clean out the fresh water tank on my boat. Should I plan to park by the pump out to do it, or something else.

Thanks!

Most, maybe all Sundancers grey water (ie from sinks etc) goes overboard. Turn on the galley or head sink and you will see water going out of a through hull. Shower water goes to a sump and is also pumped overboard. Head flushes go to a holding tank - you can pump out or if your boat has a macerator and you are in allowed locations (offshore) you can pump the tank overboard.

Cleaning the tanks:
Head holding tank - pump out, then fill with freshwater and pump it again. If it is real bad, fill it 1/2 full, put a little Dawn in it and go for a ride to slosh it around, then pump it out. Another good practice is to use plenty of water with the head and flush a full bowl of freshwater down it at the end of each weekend or stay on the boat. Leaving "stuff" in the hoses leads to odors.

Freshwater tank - add a small amount of bleach to the holding tank - about 1/4 cup per 15gal. Run the faucets, then turn them off. Let it all sit for 24 hours, then run all the bleach treated water out and fill with fresh. You should not have to do this often, maybe once a year at the beginning of the season.

That sounds like a pretty hot mix! I think I ran about 1 cup, maybe just a tick more, through 100 gallons this past spring and it took two full tank flushes to get the bleach taste/smell out of the water. I think I'll go about half that next year. Your mileage may vary of course...

Some lake boats required a grey water system (nothing goes overboard) often these systems use the black water tank....but 99.9% of the time, grey water is routed overboard

All helpful. Thanks! The bleach in the drinking water probably helps with the COVID also... ;)
