I am looking to convert the shelves upfront in the bow area to cabinet fronts to hide water leakage spots from the bow rail area that was leaking. We fixed the leak but do not want to change the whole head liner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated opticianjw@msn.com

I have been thinking of doing the same. I have no stains but want to add storage cabinets. I have made luan plywood templates of the new upright bulkhead parts, and templates of the cabinet faces. I will transfer them to some 1/2" teak vener plywood, and fasten them with aluminum L brackets as searay does it. Im going to make the doors to match my exsisting cabinet doors. It will be nice to have closed storage up there. I also think the addition of all that teak flowing up into the v berth will look nice. Look inside the closet on your starboard side up in the bow. The install will be done the same way. Dave

Daves' idea sounds good, but on the '89 the cabinet faceing is color keyed to the interior color shceme so you could use some cabinet plywood and cover it with a matching formica type product. Dave you are truely the master of upgrade mods for these old girls, I NEVER would have thought of adding cabinets up front. I can't wait to see pics of this when its done. I had thought about widening the bed in the v-berth by installing some kind of filler board and cushion in that little walkway. My wife didn't want to loose access to the storage under the vanity so I never got any further than the idea phase. I may have to start thinking about a way to do a removable cushion, so we can have our cake and eat it too.
