So long as your truck is in good condition you will have no problem whatsoever.

You will not have a problem at all. I had an F250 Crew Cab short bed with the small V8 before my F350 and I pulled my 250DA without an issue. These trucks like to work.

No problem ! I tow my 90 250 DA , surge brakes , with my 2001 , Silverado 4x4 5.3 liter, ext cab, short box step side ,odometer reading 125,000 miles, regular services and 100% synthetic fluids,( I do have leaf helpers on the back) , so far furthest ive towed was 650 miles non stop , tows great , I will be adding a weight dist and anti sway this year though

I pull my 240 with a 1500 Avalanche
it is right at the top of the tow capacity but it doesn't complain much

I pulled my 29 Formula with my 2500hd, 10,500 on the trailer.......BTW, the new "slimmed down" engines have much more horsepower than a stock 454 from GM, they were actually pretty weak in trucks for what they are capable of.

290hp at 4000 rpm and 410 torque at 3200, but that was only in the last few years they made it. A vortec 6.0L is 365hp/385 torque, and 90% of it comes below 2000 rpms. The 6.0l would likely have more useable torque on the bottom. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just saying.....A stock truck 454 is pretty untapped as far as its potential.

Don't get me wrong, since GM stopped making the 8.1 (mistake!), the 6.0L is the replacement for the 7.4. By the numbers, they're pretty close, but given my druthers, I'd rather have a big block for heavy towing than a small block, and a diesel would be better still, but apparently GM doesn't agree with me.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that there is absolutely no comparison between the 360 I had in my Dodge, and the 6.0L in my GMC. The Dodge engine was nothing but weak!

Haven't tried the Hemi. I know a lot of people like em. The old magnum was a dog, especially with a 3.55 rear end.

Chevy Suburban 6.0-3.73 pulling 11k of boat and trailer.

Just stay out of the fast lane on the interstate cause I'm coming by!

Electric over hydraulic discs on 3 axles so we can stop too.

...and we can also stop the unit on the ramp.

Suburbans and trailers don't float. :smt021

It sure looked good towing in my rearview mirror!

You need to drive a Hemi, night and day to a 5.9 V8

I didn't have good luck with my Dodge. My brother didn't either. 3 transmissions and light use in less than 110,000 miles. Rusting like a bast@rd, oil burning, rough riding. I'm really happy with my Jimmy.
