3.0 exhaust flapper

Hello I rarely post but read a lot and have a technical question. I have a 2007 175 with the 3.0 Mercruiser. I am getting ready to replace the exhaust flapper in a couple days. I was wondering if you always replace the grommets when you replace the flapper? Also if you do, do you use any type of adhesive? I have had the boat one year and have done some maintenance to it like bellows, impeller etc and decided to do the exhaust flapper before this season. Was just looking for some advice before tackling it. I plan on removing the riser to make the job easier
