Today i installed a new Garmin GPSmap XS in my 2007 SS SLX and wanted to install the GT15M-IH transducer, but of course the Airmar unit is still in the only realistic spot in the bilge.
I thought of mounting it forward by the cabin bilge but the Garmin unit has to be in a submerged pool mount with no void. Has anyone mounted a transducer anywhere else or cut through the subfloor to the hull to gain access to the bottom?
Thoughts? I need this high-speed transducer as it will be part of a bigger plan I will get to later.
