290 Sundeck

This post raises another question I have. Does your camper canvas have screens and eisenglass or just eisenglass? I had a 24 Sorrento and a 290 DA and both of them had the camper canvas option. They were made by great lakes and both had the screens and eisenglass. It was a great option and well worth the money.

I know the camper package for the 240SD does, so I would assume the 290SD package does too.

Very valuble information. I had planned to store it outside during the winter months.
Thanks you very much.

We kept the boat in the boatel but of course we live in a colder climate.

hey guys im resurrecting this thread.

I just purchased a 2009 290 SD w 496. Its got the windless, grill, fridge, vaccuflush, it's loaded up and very clean. One thing it is missing is shore power. I was curious as to how much that 12v fridge pulls? I was considering removing the fridge, as im going to remove the grill, it wont ever get used and just put countertop in. The fridge has me concerned though with no shore power. The boat will mostly sit in the water at the dock 3-4 days a week with no use, and be used thusday-sunday. Would the fridge kill my batteries? And when does that thing run, is it all the time? So if I pull the boat out to clean it and leave it on the grounds for a few days..would it still run?

Curious about this myself. Just ordered a 2019 SDX 290 with the cockpit fridge, but passed on the shore power, seemed like an expensive upgrade when I can just move the items to a cooler and bring inside. We do plan on hanging out at the dock quite a bit though. Did you leave the fridge in and how did it work out?

I have the shore power on my 290 and it gets used all the time, when at the dock it keeps the batteries charged and if I ever pull her out and trailer her to the house I have a shore to 3 prong plug converter which is enough amperage to power the battery charger also. We added a bunch of stereo equipment so the batteries draining is a real issue, I'm going to add a 4th battery this spring. I never -ever- use the fridge, I wish there was a cooler in its' place as it just takes up space. If you turn on the fridge the batteries are dead within a matter of hours (ask me how I know, haha)

Are you sure your batteries are good or big enough, series 27 or 31. I got a 290 DA and can run the fridge all night and most of the next day on one series 27 battery and it will still start the engine with the battery being 2 years old and I keep the fridge at 34 degrees, got to have cold beer!!

I'll admit, when we needed a jump I was running the stereo and the fridge for a long time.... The stereo is 8 speakers and 2 subwoofers with a total of 3 amps. Im sure a combo of that, plus whatever other things running (head, charging phones, etc.). The boat is only a year old so I hope my batteries are still good!
