290 sundancer

What year? More info engines/drives...

had one for a year and loved it. We had two kids and just outgrew it. We spent our time on the San Diego bay.

It is a great boat. Plenty of power. Good riding hull. Efficient at 1.3-1.5 mpg, burning 20 GPH at cruise speed ~30mph, 3500 RPM. Well built and designed. Can be tricky to handle at the dock in a strong current or cross wind as the bow is light relative to the stern. If I planned on keeping it of a long time, I would have installed a thruster. But that is the case for any big stern drive boat. You learn to control it by muscling the throttles in those situations. In normal conditions, docking is a breeze.

The open cockpit is very practical for moving about, but limits seating to 5 passengers.
Storage on the boat is a little sparse. The canvas must go in the aft cabin or on the v-birth. We never kept the sunpads on the boat for that reason.
For the money, these boats are a great buy.

We kept the canvas in the aft bench (rolled up). It fit with no problem and left the other areas open to use. Otherwise, I agree with Mike on all points.

Thanks for all the info.I would like to go bigger 310 or 330 but I want to be able to trailer it to some bigger lakes in my area. Plus I have acouple low bridges I need to get under I've been looking for a real bridge clearance number for the 290 but I keep getting different numbers depending were you read. The seating issue is the biggest problem I have with the boat.Plus is it to big to pull the odd inner tube for the kids.

Hello, regarding the height of the 290 Dancer is the following:
-waterline to top of spoiler-excliding any attachments-9'10"
-keel to top of spoiler 12'6"

Anyway, very nice boat...performs well with V-8's ONLY!!!

Newer version of this for 2010 is the 310 Sundancer(slightly wider!!
