Tabman, Sea Ray installed 12x18 but are not big enough in my opinion.
What options do I have?

i have a little more than 7" to prop pockets.

Sounds like you could fit a pair of 24 x 12 with drop fins to get the most lift. The actuator will need to be moved to the middle if the Tabs.

That's what I would recommend.

Tom, Thanks for the reply. Couple questions.
1. What size would the drop fins be?
2. Increase in depth would not help also?
3. What should the actuator stroke be?
4. Does actuator need moved to center?

The Drop Fins should be 3". We make Trim Tab Assemblies with the Fins built into the Tabs. The Part Number is TPA24124DF, that includes the Trim Tabs and the mounting plates. You would need two each, one for each side.

While some owners have increased the chord (depth) of there Trim Tabs we do not recommend doing it. The additional leverage can damage the actuator, particularly when backing down.

The actuator stroke should be the same as the ones on the boat now, 2-1/2".

Yes, the actuators should be moved to the center of the Trim Tabs.

Let me know what you think,

Tom, Thanks fo the addtional information.

How much would those cost me? You can PM me if you want.

I just noticed a typo, the part number is TPA2412DF. I corrected it in the post.

The list price is $196.00 each. But we do not sell directly, so your best bet is to have a dealer special order them for you. I would suggest trying BOE (the prime sponsor of CSR!), they are really good at special ordering Bennett parts like this.

Tom,
Can the DF12 drop fins be added to tabs that formed with about 1" upturned tabs?

Thanks

Yes, when there are 1" up fins on the sides the drop fins can be bolted on the underside of the Trim Tabs:

SeaRay does use some Trim Tabs that have one side cut at an angle, and a drop fin could not be used there since it will not be parallel to the water flow, but other than that you should be able to add them to any 12" chord Trim Tabs.

Tom, Thanks for the info. I think I will go with them as a lower price option verses wider tabs. How effective do you think they will be and what material should I use to fasten them?

Thanks in advance.

Doug,

They will add a bit more lift but not as much as the larger Trim Tabs. But for the low cost and relative ease of installation the drop fins are worth adding.

They are usually installed using #10 stainless steel panhead machine screws and nylock nuts. The panheads should be on the bottom of the Trim Tabs.

OK thanks again. Sorry for a other question. Is the DF12 for both tabs or would I need to order 2 of that part number?
