Trying to figure out the best place to install a used Raymarine e80 on my '06 280DA. Any recommendations, pics or advice would be appreciated. It's bulky to install next to and slightly behind compass, but looks like it will block too much vision if I put it forward. Anyone install it and like or dislike how it ended up?
Thanks much!
Steve
p.s. Ready for some boating weather already!

That's the only downfall to the 280. Nowhere to put your Chart plotter

This is what I've done. The C80 is on a RAM mount that allows it to be closer. The dash panels are custom laminated teak. I had to make them to accommodate the System View SC5000 display.

My mount is just above and to the right of the trailer switch. The unit sits across the top right switch panel and side. I will see if I can get a photo when I check on the boat this week.

I've tried for several weeks to enter a reply showing you where mine is at. I keep getting a message about the moderator needing to look at it. I'm wondering if it is the photo content. I'm posting this reply to see if it shows up.

I have mine mounted on the left side of the helm. It's out of the way of the throttles and you can swing it in when anchored so it's out of the way for access to the cabin. It was like that when I bought the boat.

The easiest way to post pictures ina thread to to place the photos on a site like Photobucket and copy a link to the picture into your post.

Are you able to post a pic or let us know what mount you are using that swings in and out as needed?
Thanks,
Steve

I went through all my pics I have on this computer and don't have a good shot. I can take one this weekend (weather looks nice on Sunday) so I can post a pic on Monday if that works?

That would be appreciated... also ... very jealous you are expecting good weather this weekend. We are single digits here on Long Island today.
Thanks again!

I think it will be 76-80 here with light winds. We've had a pretty nice winter so far (knock on wood). I pulled my cover back the other day and it's suppose to rain so maybe I'll jump up on the lift tonight to snap a pic and close her up.

Thanks Henry! I did see that trick but I was still unable to post. I'm wondering if it has to do with the number of pictures. I will start with the last and see what happens.

I had mentioned earlier the mount was up and to the right but I meant that is where the unit ends up. I too have a Ram mount.

Now that my pictures are coming in but not in the order expected. My thoughts are working the same way. The unit sits just above the switch panel and on the window sill. It was mentioned earlier about the throttle levers possibly hitting. I do not have a problem with the levers when mounted this way.

This shows the mount and cable routing. The bottom of the Ram mount is offset to the right as well. If you need a picture let me know. I'm trying not to clutter the thread and I'm already disappointed that I had to do multiple responses.
