I have 2005 280 sundancer with a Iteli pro 30 amp charger that the green light is blinking . I am not sure if this means charger is bad or a battery is bad. Went to start engines and the port engine battery was dead the starboard engine fired right up. If there was a bad baterry would the charger green light just blink . The red light on charger say's has power but green light is blinking and there is nothing showing on gauge, just showing 0 amps . Should there be something showing on the gauge that charger is chargering. Thanks

Not sure about your model but usually a blinking green light means unit is charging and a solid green means unit is in maintain mode (batteries are charged full). You may have a bad battery. Do you have the owner's manual for this unit? It may better explain what is going on.

I dont recall all the designations but there is a sticker right next to the light that explains what all the blinking combinations mean (rapid, slow, green, red, etc.)

Thanks guy's , I am thinking I may have a bad battery . I called Inteli power the company that makes this charger and was informed that yes when charging the green light will blink. I just purchase this boat a few weeks ago and now just trying to learn about it. So please bear with me if I continue to ask maybe some smart as well as stupid questions. I understand the green light blinking when charging just do not understand the amp meter pretty much reading zero . Should the amp meter at least show something on the gauge that it's charging. Or maybe if there is a bad battery it will not kick on the charger. I will have to look closer for a sticker on the charger that explains all the lights . I will bring a flash light and glasses next time, maybe can see it than. Also went to use the trailer switch to raise both engines and only the starboard would raise port engine did not move . They both work fine with the power trim buttons . Any thoughts would be great. Thanks all

The resistance in a bad battery is very high, which is why when you connect a charger to a totally dead battery the meter will read zero. If you turn on all the cabin lights, the meter should go up the the amp draw of the lights. If you do have a bad (dead) battery, you need to disconnect right away. In my business, we have learned the hard way, if you have a bad battery in a battery bank, replace all in that bank. If you don't, you will keep replacing them one at a time until you get back to your new one:smt101 I would disconnect the batteries and test them individually. The best method, if they are not sealed, is by using a hydrometer which you can purchase at most auto parts and wall world. I like the Balkamp from NAPA. The hydrometer will give you the specific gravity of each cell and if you see un even cells, trash the battery! A traditional load tester will not give you the exact state of the battery. We use a digital Snap On tester and you would not believe how many batteries are bad when they test good under a traditional load tester and how many good ones that tested bad with the traditional tester but just needed charging.

As for you tilt operation, if the port battery is dead, that could be why it won't raise. Port battery is the one that sits perpendicular to the other two batteries.

Thanks guy's as soon as this crapy weather her in New England clears I will go check the batteries. Sounds like I have a bad battery for the port engine but will check the other two also. Hoping thats the proplem why the port engine will not lift with trailer switch. Thanks loving my new 280

well weather finally cleared so I could check the batteries. I did like you said and turned on all 12 volt lighting in the cabin and sure enough battery charger kicked on to 15 amps . Does this still mean I could have a bad battery . I have three batteries well actually four but that one is used for the inverter. Which of the three batteries is for the port engine I have two that run horizontal and one that runs vertical. Also still the port engine will not lift with trailer switch starboard works fine . Port engine will work with trim switch ok but not with trailer switch. Could this still be a bad battery or the limit switch ,relay or something. I know lots of questions but only have this boat for a few weeks. Thanks

Hi , Well battery charger is fine , turned out to be a bad battery . As for the port engine not lifting with the trailer switch turns out the switch was bad on one side . I took apart and cleaned and now all is well again.
