Took delivery of our new 2017 270SDX (Sundeck) Outboard. It's our third Sea Ray, and we couldn't be happier.

We ordered it with the 300 Verado, upgraded stereo, collasable bimini top, infinity carpeting, LED interior lighting, pump out head, and digital dash (Raymarine a65).

Took her her out for our first cruise this afternoon, and wow... great handing and extreamly quite (you hardly know it's running)!

I'll get a couple of pictures posted soon.

That boat is on my shortlist if I decide to replace my 270 SLX. On paper the Sundeck is smaller, but I think it uses space so efficiently that it will feel bigger in use. The outboard option interests me as we are shopping for a Florida retirement home and I want an outboard when there.

how is the performance versus the IO you had on your 250?

Our 250slx had a 350 in it, so power with the 300 Varado is similar (at least cursing like we're we're yesterday). I looked at the 350 Verado, and while it has more power it requires "premium" fuel (which is fine, but not aways an option on the lakes for us).

End of day, the outboard was really what sealed the deal for us. We looked at a new 280slx, and while it had a few more bling elements, the quietness, ease of maintenance, extra storage, year round boatability, and ability to take it with us on coastal vacations is what pushed us toward the SDX. The 290SDX was really nice, but larger than what I wanted to tow.

It appears SeaRay is beginning to offer more modals with outboard power, with the introduction of the outboard powered 310sxl and 350slx at last weeks FLIBS. Triple 300s must fly!

    Congratulations,
I purchased the 2016 270SDX with the Mercuiser 6.2 B3 at a fall boat show.. Only had it out a few times before it was a hauled for the winter but liked the way it handled and was fuel efficient. This is a big thing coming from a large cruiser to a day boat. We like the simplicity of the boat

Thanks! Any tips / info that I should know about the 270?

We made to switch from our cruiser (290 dancer) to our last boat (250slx) and it was a big switch / lot to get use to -- was a lot nicer at the gas dock. I do miss the overnights, but with two young kids it just doesn't fit our lifestyle at this time. We loved out 250, and are excited about the extra storage in the 270. We also purchased a trailer with this boat, so looking forward to trying out some new waters next spring / summer.

follow up question - did you find the holeshot and cornering ability is not as strong as it was with the bravo 3 drive?

I agree we may miss the overnight option but after 35 years of cruising the Great Lakes and the fact that we dock at our house our boating has changed more towards the day trips.
With the 270 SDX we feel it is large enough to be safe in but the worst weather.

Haven't noticed much difference in holeshot, for corner you do need to adjust the trim more that I did with my 250.

    Bringing up an old thread.
I just ordered the 2018 SDX 270 with the Verado 300. Can you provide any updates on performance with a full boat of people, top speed, water sports ability, any maintenance or warranty issues, etc?
