270 Sundeck Thread - Questions & Answers

Anyone have input on where they mounted subwoofers in their sd? Also anyone add rear facing speakers by the swim platform? Pictures of either? Thanks

I will try to remember to get a picture but I mounted the sub under the port rear seat. If I were to do rear facing speakers I'd just go with ones on my tower. I think it would be tough mounting anything to the stern of the boat. They would be upward firing speakers more than anything.

A picture would be great. Did you build an enclosure behind the sub? I picked up two 10" subs. And as far as rear facing , I don't have a tower but ....after some thinking today I believe I will do a removable Perko style pole wired with some can style speakers. Don't need much just while swimming and can be removed and out of the elements when not used.

Anyone put a swim platform on their 270? What was the cost? Also put seadec on the factory swim platform. The seadec website had nothing listed for 270 sundeck.

Swimplatforms.com. They have the template. The standard one is solid. I had them place the two handholds in the platform. If I did it again I would ask for two more handholds up around the top of the ladder hatch. My 80yr old parents would appreciate it. It was around 2k if I remember correctly and worth every penny. My biggest fear was all the kids jumping off the back right over the outdrive. Best upgrade on the boat I've done.

Thanks I had priced one through them for my last boat but I'm kind of on the fence with it now that they are a bit older. You end up putting any non skid stuff on it? Seadec, ect?

I have been back and forth on seadek and other products. Really happy with the platform. No more exposed outdrive and no more having to shuffle in and out of the boat to let others by.

By the way how you liking the sub? I have two 10's in the basement waiting for a free day to install. . I'm going to start with one but will most likely add the other in the bow somewhere maybe hidden.

I added SeaDek to my 270 SLX and love it. It looks great and my wife says it's soft to walk on. See the pics below. It completely changed the look of the boat.

Lawyer - The sea dek looks awesome, did you remove all of the snaps for your carpet?

What kind of plotter do you have? It doesn't look like the Navman that came with our boat. I need to replace mine and am looking for something similar in size.

Thanks.

Sea deck looks awesome. Any up keep to it? Any problems with it peeling off? If you don't mind me asking what was the price for the whole boat?

I have it on the swim platform, walk thru and landing area near the engine, and a big piece on the bow on a 270 Sundeck. Total cost was under $40, and it looks amazing.

40$ ? where did you get that from? It come prepared cut. If it's that cheap I'll do the whole boat. I ordered a sample pack from seadek, but I don't think they have anything for 40$.

I think he meant 4K?

Sorry for the typo. Under $400 shipped to my door. Trying to post pictures, but doing something wrong.

400 still sounds good. Where from? Email me those pictures if ya don't mind. I like the pictures I see online, I mean my carpet it in great shape but I do get tired of the snaps and I trailer so the though of it flying out or constantly putting it away.

thinking about downsizing from my 30 weekender to a 240 or 270 sundeck.havent slept on the boat in a couple years and the single engine fuel usage I do miss from my 25 sundancer.I really like the 270 but all the pics I see don't look to have a fridge.has anyone added a fridge to their boats?thats the one thing I would really miss as its nice to always have cold drinks on the boat.also whats really the difference between the 6.2 and 8.1,its usually only me and my wife so the boats never loaded to capacity.

Have 270 sd, with 8.1, no fridge, which would be nice at times but defiantly not something I plan on adding. The 8.1 never seems to really get much of a work out no matter how full we run. I'm sure there is a difference between full and empty but none that I notice without a GPS. I have the mag which is 375hp , the ho with 425hp would be nice but not needed. Have captains call as well and it is fun to hear that big block talk.

A friend and I took out the screws and filled in the holes with 5200. A few days later we cleaned the floor with acetone and installed the pieces one at a time. It was tedious, but not at all difficult.

The chartplotter is a Garmin 541s.

Sub is great. It went in along with a complete swap of all the speakers to JL and a JL 700/5 amp to power it all so I really can't give a subjective review on just the sub. The overall sound is fantastic.
