Developed a split in a seam (see pics below). Figured the best way to get it fixed is to remove the seat cushion and bring cushion to fabric guy. Opened the engine hatch and found what appears to be several locking nuts that attach the seat. Couple questions. One, do the locking nuts on the back side of the engine hatch secure the seat cushions? Two, is there a different method of removing the seat cushions?

Sound like the locking nuts would be what's holding it on.

Have you been using bleach based cleaners on your seats?

No bleach to clean. I only use tap water. There was one occasion I used a marine vinyl cleaner (forget the brand).

I have done upholstery and in that learned hobby I bought from an upholsterer very strong spooled thread and curved needles. A friend put a chemical on our cushion to try and remove a stain and soon after all of the threads on the corner let go.....I used a baseball type of crisscross and although not beautiful it at least fixed the mess.

Yes, the nuts hold the seat cushion on.
