268DA and Weekenders

It"s warming up guy's, You will be boating before you know it. Daddubo, almost time to ride your New to you 268, hope all goes well. Sea Ya

Soon I hope still have another month or so before hitting the water. It is warming up enough to start puttings her back together. Glad I took the outdrive off and found the broken exhaust flappers or I could of been in big trouble on the first launch.
Finishing the house this week so the wife won't be bothering me, she knows once I get started everything else is on the back burnner.

A question for you guy's do you have one radio for cabin and the deck or do you have one for each area? I was thinking about having one for each area so when spending the night I don't have to have the speakers playing on the deck and bother the neighbors.

Excellent initiative - a 268 group!!!
I have a 1988 268 with a fresh rebuilt 454 /400 hp;
bought the boat last year off eBay; did some interior cleaning and refreshing; redone the engive support and fiberglass the engine room; have some cosmetic exterior work - rubbing - waxing - filling up nicks and dents - also to make sure all gauges and electrical are working good - located near Montreal CANADA -

Guy glad to have you here, I just got mine in October and working on it now that it is warming up. We had 60 on Friday and 33 and snow on Saturday oh well that is part of living in the Mid-West

I was working on the boat yesterday and remembered that the bow rail was loose so I tightened it up I was surprised that I got 2 to 3 turns out of some of them I think that is where water was coming in that I found under the Port side cushion.

Hello every1, new to this thread and new to the site. Just purchased my 1st Sea Ray! 1987 268 DA. She has a 7.4L w/ 450 hrs on her. The boat was garaged kept her whole life so it's in excellent shape. Had a few question:
1) I'm coming from a 76' Catalina Sailboat so, I'm a lil' concerned about fuel consumption, what can I expect with this boat?
2) Has any1 found a good permanent place to install a small microwave?
3) Where can I find a replacement head just like the original one (I think it's a Vacuflush?)
4) I'm in New Orleans, La. so I'll be in salt water, what would be the best way to flush out the salt water when not in use at the slip?

I am a new Sea Ray owner also, just bought a 1988 268 Sundancer with a fresh 7.4 I had looked at a 87 Sundancer and they had mounted their microwave over, and to the right, of the stove, into the bathroom wall, right where there use to be a shelf.

Hi Guys glad to see you here, Popeye would probably tell you about fuel consumption he has the 7.4. Seems to be a lot of new 268 owners here, check the thread a lot of good information here and other places on this site. Richard3rd if you are trailering would think using muffs would work but if you are going to go through brackish water to the Missip that should do the job.

Hi Everyone,

Getting ready for the new season and would like to replace the useless bench seat on my 88 268DA. I think I will build my own. Any good websites for buying vinyl covering and foam padding?

Thanks,
chuck

I got my vinyl off ebay. He sells it for 9 bucks a yard. Seems like decent stuff

Cdorgan I personally am going to find some nice deck chairs to replace the seat, jcoyrochny said that is what he did and 3 fit nicely. I am going to make a storage locker out of the seat inset for bumpers or skis. I think the biggest problem I can see with a bigger seat is the Engine Hatch with it being so large and keeping it accessible.

I just took the winter coat off mine makes life a lot easier getting in and out, starting to get excited about getting her out for the first time but still have some work left but things are coming together nicely.

Hi, new to the site. Found this thread, glad I did, I have an '85 268, just getting it ready for the season now. Did alot of work on her over the last couple months.

There is also a place in Washington State I bought some parts from but I don't remember thier name I will see if I can find it.

Hey Popeye here is a picture of my charger see if you have any holes in this area and the electrical box there I think this is the standard mounting for these boats. How you other guys is this where yours is mounted?

JC, I bought the next size up from BOMAR, as my size was not available. I just cut the opening 1/8" larger all round and it fit and sealed great! It matched real good, color was right on. The profile was a little lower, but not really noticable. I think the size was 18"X18"
