268DA and Weekenders

I just bought a 1987 sundancer 286 and am looking for some info bit no 286 thread.. looking for manuals and to know what size fluid tanks are onboard...

Not sure on manuals. I hear you can get them off Sea Rays website.

Gas tank = 100 gals
Fresh water = 24 gals
Pump-out Porta-potty holds a couple gallons
That’s all the fluids in mine.

Here are the specs out of my owners manual.

I tried to get manual from searay site, but no luck. I did manage to find one though for a 88 sundancer 268. If u like a copy send me e mail and I'll send it to you

So just signed up yesterday love all the Info on the site.... so I just bought my first sea ray it's an 88 268 sundancer with the 4.3 twins ( first twin I've owned) alpha 1 sterndrives had it out for a few hours and it seems the twins will need some getting used to any advice out there to help acclamate?

So I need to know if anyone else has an old 268 with the same electrical setup as I do. Specifically regarding the charger in the engine room. Mine is plugged into an outlet that us mounted to the transom .I am told by others that it is wrong and dangerous because of gas fumes that could ignite Nd should be hard wired . I am going to hardwire it to be safe but still it looks like a factory installed outlet and I would like to know if others are the same

I am thinking of deepening the anchor locker on our 268. I have a Lewmar V700, 30 feet of chain and 300 feet of Yale Super Plait. The setup works well but every once in a while I get a jam either going out or coming in and everytime this happens it is because the rode has piled up under the windlass. The jam isn't a problem with other people on the boat, but it has happened a couple of times when I am by myself in a crowded anchorage with some wind. Where we anchor I can't go shorter on the rode so the only option I see is deepening the anchor locker. I am wondering if anyone has ever cut into the floor of the anchor locker before.

Thanks and I welcome any and all comments or suggestions.

John
I know it's a long shot with an old post but if you're still on here did you ever deepen your rode locker
Thanks dave

Yes. I cut the flat bottom out and made it smaller so that it went deeper into the locker, then glassed it back in. Probably got at least 6 inches of depth if I remember correctly. However, I don't remember what I did about the drain, I must have lowered it.

Just got my 87da, been out a couple times... Had my Google Assistant start a"boat list"

I have a scanned PDF of this manual if anyone needs it. Helped me with my transom/stringer replacement. PM me with your email address for a copy.

Bunk placement for 268Da??
Hi fellow 268ers we are getting near haul out time here in the north and I am about to put bunks on my trailer. My boat has never been on a trailer and I am going to use my old trailer that was for a ol boat I owned I removed the rollers that support the transom end when I lengthened it and kept the forward ones that support the bow. I am keeping them and adding bunks to support the back half of the boat and need to know
A The distance between the bunks
B The difference in height from the keel to the bunks

Thinking for spacing to go with the stringer width , would that be correct?

My trailer is only good for 7000lbs with the axles I have it is only for storage 2km from the launch.. I plan on blocking the trailer up slightly once its home to take some weight off the axles.

Give me a minute I'll post pics n measures

This trailer is my storage as I boat multiple lakes
