268 Cockpit Rear Seating

This discussion is very interesting. It makes me realize my wife and I made a good decision when we went from our 220DA right to a 300DA. We considered the 268 and 270 but for many of the same issues brought up in this thread, we decided the 300 was the best choice.

Good choice Ricky ! Cant beat the 300. I went from the 268 to this. The 268 was a great boat, but does not compare to the 300. You know...Sundancer told me something way before I bought the 300, he said it acually handles and feels more sport boat like than the 268. He was right, these things really handle well for 10,000 lb boat with a fat beam. My two cents.

The 300 has an 11 ft beam which we absolutely love. It does handle very well. Not too bad on gas either. Usually cruise around 3,000 rpm which depending on conditions is 21-24mph. We've been thinking of moving up to a 34 but not sure I want to make the switch to the big block inboards. I've been told it's real close to double the fuel burn.

You are right about the fuel consumption. My buddie has the 34 express, and he burns almost twice what I burn, when we travel to the same destination.

Just thinking about possible mods/improvements for this boat I just bought.

The 2 drop down seats on the back of the helm seat. They look terribly fragile to me. Unless I do something to reinforce them...NO ONE...bigger than my wife will be permitted to sit on them. They'll be fine for grand kids to sit on.

Has anyone had problems with theirs.....and come up with a way to make them stronger so a full sized adult might be able to use them? Any pics available?

Thanks.
****:wow::wow: I justed replaced all of the seating in mine:smt038. The bigger the ass:smt100 the bigger the cushion:wow:. LMMFAO:smt043:smt043:smt043:smt043:smt043:smt043. Good luck:thumbsup::thumbsup:

In addition to using the coolers for support, I made up support legs that snap on to the snaps for the straps that secure them in the upright position. I got a couple of walking cane ends at Ace(soft, white, large footpring and non-marking), then a couple of bimini support tube ends. I cut the tube ends flat and screwed a female part of a snap to this end. These are quickly deployed when the seat is down and they can be stored behind the seat when it is folded up. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but I will try to get some next time I am on the boat.
