Hello all, i am about to drill into my clean transom to install the chartplotter unit i just purchased. i plan on predrilling screw holes and filling with 4200. the wire will pass through just below swim platform and needs a 1" hole which will also be filled with 4200 after wire is secure. Is there anything i should be concerned about doing this to the SeaRay transom? The location i found is on the flat part of what i think they call the strake between outdrive and trim tab. :smt021:smt021
 
It sounds like you have it figured out. Make sure the mounting location has clean water flow. Usually the transducer is mounted on the starboard side. Avoid any through hulls or protrusion forward of the mounting location.

Yes, that is a "strake", they provide lift to the hull when running.

Something you may want to consider doing is mounting a small piece of starboard to the transom and then fastening the transducer to that.
The advantage is the ability to adjust it's location and or replace it without damaging the seal and/or drilling new holes in the transom.
Below is a photo of what I have done with the transducers on our 270da (not located at strakes because of twin engines):
