260DA - Power options and recommendations

Great explanation Dave! We purchased our boat (1st boat) last July and we had some great fun figuring out the trims, both engine and tabs. Your explanation solves a few of my problems with planing.
I hate to test your memory but somewhere along my reading over the winter I'm sure I saw an article by you about connecting and/or re-wiring (including parts needed) between the Navman 5505 and Smartcraft. Could you post the link to that, or re-post the info?

Also on my 2008 260DA it has a Northstar NS100 VHF. The manual states that when you turn it on if you have a chartplotter on board it will automatically pick up the GPS location and store it. I know it cannot do this without a connection to the plotter, so is there also a connector that you need between those two?

Thanks in advance
Bill

I always get confused with all of those types of engines:
5.7, 6.2, 350 Mag, 496, 8.1.
Can someone explain it to me?
Thank you.

Bill

I think Mercury's web site does a pretty good job of explaining all the engine choices. When you bring up this web page http://www.mercurymarine.com/engines/inboards/sterndrives/index.php
just click on the various engine designations under the picture of the Multi Port Injection to get the specs of each engine.

I have sent you a PM on how to hook-up your 5505 to Smartcraft. Be aware there is a software bug if you try and hookup your Navman to your Northstar Radio if you have the Smartcraft interface. I can go into a better explanation on this later if you wish. If you are just wanting your Northstar to pick up the GPS signal you have to wire the two units together and turn on the interface. I don't have the how-to information on that right off the top.
