I clipped my antennae on a railroad bridge (picture). Radio still works fine. Couple questions, is it possible to replace just the white sheath? I assume no, second question trying to figure out what to buy, I think this is a 6' antennae any suggestions on what to buy appreciated (I am river/lake boating). Third question, I see there is a screw on type fitting that the antennae wire goes into the arch on just above the silver housing on the antennae mount (see on pic). Can I unscrew this, screw in a new antennae that seemingly would have the same fitting? Trying to figure out if I need wires soldered together, or run all the way back to the radio or what.

I did the same thing n our 06 years ago. Buy a new 8’ antenna. Unscrew the old and screw on the new. They make a fitting that allows you to splice the coax cable. All in all, 30-40 mins and good as new.

Happened to me too.

Here are my notes.

29-April: Replaced broken VHF antenna with a $80 Shakespeare 8300. Also got $14 extended warranty. Didn't know if I'd break the splicer coupling inside the starboard side arch (behind the large access port), so I got a spare $18 coax connector PL258-CP-G.

Got it all from west marine. Was one of the easiest fixes.

I'm not sure how big of a lake you are on, but if you are concerned about transmission distance or quality, step up to the Galaxy series. I "think" this may have been what was on your boat originally from Sea Ray (or, at least, if often was). It is a MUCH better antenna (fiberglass finish and thickness/interior components/connectors/etc) than the cheapie/entry level 5101.
