240srv Cummins conversion

Charlie quite interesting, only downfall I can see is there 6.5liters , I have only seen one 6.5 liter that has passed the magnaflux test out of many that have passed through my doors.

Project is still under way i'm not sure on what to use for a drive ? I want something that requires very limited maintenance that will stand up well to the diesel , anyone have any experience with arneson drives? Pros an cons, The Cummins will be used for cruising to the fishing hole, the kicker is for trolling. Also thinking of seastar non power hydraulic steering.

Man what a shine on that hull!

So have you actually started yet or still in the thinking/planning phase?

Still Thinking / Planning the transplant, I have the 6Bt Cummins just trying to figure out the drive. I've been getting the rest of the boat ready first . I know if I do the conversion first I wont take the time to finish the rest of the boat the way I want it.
Thanks for the comments.

I think your going to need at least a Bravo or maybe a TRS with a tranny.

What year/configuration 6BT? Is it a marine unit?

The core is a 92 I havent decided what spec im going to build it to yet probably about 220 hp marine spec. as for the intake air cooler i'll probably try a home made unit based on a leiberg condensor sort of design. Im not going to build it untill I make my desision on the drive. The engine is the inexpensive part to me I work at a automotive/ marine engine shop.

I have a friend with a 33' Maxum (2001). He bought it new as a leftover and for some reason the boat came through with Bravo 2 drives labelled DIESEL. He has twin 5.7L mercs normally aspirated.

I'll be watching this thread as I'm a Cummins freak!! Have you thought of an injection pump for it yet? Mine is the P-pump used on the 2nd gen 12 valve Cummins. Not sure if it's the same on the marine application or not. There's some real easy and free mods you can do to the p-pump. Good luck!
