Getting back to this thread,
This winter’s project is to reupholster the captain seats. The 2007 models have a unique design, used for 1 year only. They are complex and intimidating to look at but can be broken down into 4 parts.

The seat bottom comes off and then the thigh bolster can be removed.

Then the seat back can be separated Into 2 pieces.

I sent out the vinyl to have the “Sea Ray” embroidered onto the rear of the headrest as well as the Sea Ray logo on the front facing portion of the seat.

Here is the finished seat cushion and the outer backrest with the vinyl removed.

Very nice....sure are a lot of complex components to a chair

These were very complicated.
Lots of curves and the associated pieces to compensate for that.

There are a few slight wrinkles, maybe I’ll try to steam them out

These turned out gorgeous.
So far we have reupholstered all of the seats in the cabin and the bench seat on the deck of our 290. The chaise lounge style and captains chair seem a bit ambitious but we are going to be taking the plunge this weekend...

Take your time and take lots of pictures beforehand. I had the benefit of having 2 identical chairs. One remained intact to use as a reference. Of course the second one turned out better!

When you disassemble the individual panels, look for the small triangle notches cut into the edge of the material. These are the original match marks that should be transferred to the new material to help line things up, especially when dealing with curved pieces.
Good luck!
