What type of chop/wind do you boat in? I was caught out on the southern Chesapeake Bay, the wind turned and the chop picked up. Waves were probably 2-3 feet and I felt like we were taking a beating. I prefer to be out on the bay instead of the river but not at the expense of enjoyment.

Just wanted to say hi as I'm new to the club. Just bought a 2005 Sea Ray 240 with 5.0 and Bravo 3. With the 240 being a little older, I'll be taking some time and bringer her back up to her original glory. Already had the trailer overhauled and just bought all new dash switches with light tips as previous owner replaced them with non-lighted and the are all broken. Next is to get the original color to shine, so have an appointment to have it "cut and buffed". Any recommendations that I should be looking at too? Thanks and look forward to everyone's recommendations!

Has anyone replaced their 240 SD cabin lights with LEDs?

I replaced my lights with Lumitec mirage dimmable white, red, and blue lights. Pricey but fantastic upgrade.

    I replaced mine with
Attwood Corporation 6556-7 3 Mile LED Transom Lights - $35 from Amazon. Exact fit, including same screw holes.

Great and thanks for the model number and info. Trying to decide if I stay with a white light or go with blue. Thanks!

Ok everyone, another question: I've rebuilt my trailer (new axles, brakes, hubs, lights, brake actuator, jack...) and was able to trailer my boat home finally, but the winch seemed wimpy when using. It is rusted and I'm going to replace it. My question, it has an 1800 lbs winch, but is this the correct size? Seems it should be at least 3k lbs. thoughts?

How many plugs to drain engine? I see 2 blue plugs near front of motor (1 near stat + 1 down near bottom).

    Are there manifold plugs?
    Engine block plugs?

Any pics or techniques for accessing them? Seems nearly impossible to access side of engine.

    Thanks

Did you remove the bulkhead in front on the motor? It makes access much easier.

There should be 2 plugs on the raw water pump (very difficult to access) and a drain plug on the cool fuel 3 module (starboard side faces forward, easy to see if you have it)

If you have the single point drain system, the block and manifold drains are connected to a manifold that sits under the crankshaft pulley.

Thanks. I plan to remove the bulkhead.

I’d love to get my hands on a pic or diagram as to where the 2 water pump plugs are.

I read here that all fuel injected motors have cool fuel.

I’ll try to trace some hoses but would that single point manifold be the one with blue plug near bottom front of motor? Slightly to port side with a rubber cap on it?

Google a picture of the pump and you’ll see the plugs.

You’re correct about fuel injected motors having some version of cool fuel, I have cool fuel 3 and the drain plug is easily visible and accessible.

Your description of the drain plug location is correct. Remove that plug THEN remove the plug on the thermostat housing to drain the block.

You may want to disconnect the 2 small hoses on that manifold mounted under the crankshaft pulley (block drains) and make sure that they aren’t blocked by sediment.

They are VERY difficult to remove, but I’m glad I did, as mine were clogged, and the block wasn’t draining. I used compressed air to clear the blockage. Could have been catastrophic over last winter.

Here is a diagram of my 2007 350 drain system.

#’s 10 are the block drains.
You can see that they are all connected to the drain manifold.

If one of them is clogged, you won’t know it when you remove the blue plug from the distribution housing (pictured but not numbered)

Thanks. Been googling. So glad I don’t have to try to access plugs on side of block or underside of manifolds. As an owner, you know what I’m saying as far as how hard blockside plugs would be.

    Perfect!!

I’ll check it out in person this week. Good tip on small hoses.

Windshield.jpg Windshield2.jpg I am searching for a windshield for my 1995 Sea Ray 240 Sundeck. I have attached a picture of mine (IMG_2174.JPG) as well as a couple pictures of one with a windshield (different angles).

I believe the 1995-1999 are the same fit but I’m not for sure. Do you have any idea where I can get one?

Please advise and thanks in advance.

I helped my father-in-law with a similar problem a few years ago on a old Glastron. We contacted a local plastic supplier, Regal Plastics was the name, I think they are national. They sold us a piece of tinted lexan, and we made our own. They told me that they do custom work if the curve was more extreme, but we were able to do ours ourselves with a little persuasion from a couple of heat guns. The plastic will cut with a fine tooth carbide blade ran backwards in a circular saw, or curves with a very fine tooth jig saw blade. clean the rough cut with a belt sander, and then hit it with a torch to make the edges look polished. just go slow and don't burn it. Seems like it cost is $20 for the plastic and a couple hours to cut, polish, and bend it to shape.

Thanks for the info and the insight to DIY. Very good info and I might have to use your option. I am still looking to see if I can get it already fitted due to my lack of time to try and do it myself. Again thanks for the good info!

    Hi:

I am a relatively new owner of a 2002 240 Sundeck. I like the boat but I have one gripe. The boat has a standard wheel, which is difficult to use as your hand hits the cup holder on the right side. It is also so low that sitting behind the wheel is not easy. It seems that a tilt wheel was standard on this model but my boat doesn't have it. Has anyone changed out their helm to a tilt type? If so what did you use?

I also need a temperature gauge crystal but will probably just change out the gauge.

    Thanks,

    Ike

    Okay, I'm in:
Signing the paperwork next Wednesday. Originally belonged to a family member that has to go under a bridge to make it out onto Lake Okoboji. Sometimes the lake level prevents him from getting out, so he is getting an '08 210 Sundeck and that means I get a nice boat. No it doesn't have 2 outdrives - that is another boat parked right beside it. 2004 with 350 Mag and Bravo 3.
