Batman, did you end up buying that 240 Sundeck?
If it were me, I'd ask for some $$ off the asking price and have the repair done myself. There is a great chance that if the seller agreed to do the repair before the sale, he would find the cheapest mechanic who would do a sub par job. Have the repair don yourself and you could be sure it was done right.

So I'm thinking of making a 430NM trip in my 2001 SD 240 from NY to VA, has anyone done such a long trip on the intercoastal in a 240?

Does anyone have the center windshield from their 240 Sundeck that you are looking to sell, the part that opens allowing access to the bow area?
Maybe you removed it and its been sitting in the shed for a few years, or you sold the boat without it?

I need to replace mine (2007 model year) I called Taylor Made and got their pricing for the piece, which is why I'm looking for a used replacement.

I'm making a lexan replacement for the time being, just not sure that will hold up as far as surface scratches.

The Sea Ray # is 1801271

You can reply here or send me a message.

    Thanks.

Do you have the frame? You could take it to a glass shop and have them install new glass. Thinking of mine it is just flat glass. I broke the slider window inside of my cap of my truck and the dealer wanted I think $200, and the glass shop cut one for less than $20

I have the frame. It isn't flat. There is a slight curve to the glass. I ordered some 1/8" 24"x24" lexan from Amazon. I cut it to fit and that will have to do for now. It looks good, just not sure how it will hold up, will it still be clear in a few months? Time will tell.

I think you made the right choice. You have a 10 year old sport boat, not a '68 Corvette that belonged to your father that needs restored. If the lexan scratches or something in 2 years, replace it again! Save the mega bucks for clutch replacement or other stuff... like fuel. Keep checking places like Great Lakes Skipper and other salvage yards, one will turn up. Usually (for me) about 3 weeks after I spend the boat buck for the new part.

Agreed. At $28 for the lexan, I could replace it every year (about 45 minutes time) and not come close to spending the $800-$1,000 I was quoted for the new glass.

Quick Question, someone stole the tip of our propeller (the anode?) and I'm wondering how critical is it to operate the boat. We just found the issue just now as we were preparing to put the boat in the water. [IMG]

Are you referring to the zinc that bolts onto the end of the shaft?

Bravo3 Drives are subject to galvanic corrosion, the zinc tip is there to help prevent that. I wouldn't worry about running for just a day or two without it, but it does need fixed asap, especially of you leave it in the water instead of on a lift, or if you boat in salt water. It is a $15 part to protect a $5000 stern drive. You should have a few more, they are on the ends of the trim cylinders, and one on each trim tab.

Monilove, similar to what was said above, it's not imperative that you put a new propshaft anode on there right away. For years, the B3's didn't even have that option. But it can't hurt to do it sooner than later. But I wouldn't stop boating because of it.

On a side note, from the angle of the picture you posted, it appears the anti-ventilation plate anode may have been painted over, rendering it useless.

I was missing that anode for two seasons before I even knew if was suppose to be there. I have a little corrosion on the drive. I was in a salt water slip for 5 months each of those years, now it's rack stored and I never want to go back to a wet slip.
