240 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Great info! Thank you! I was wondering what year started the reinforcement for the tower standard.... guess I will have to research that some.

With most of the sport boat line, it will be with the 2005 model year. Possibly some 2004's will have it and possibly some 2005's do not.

Hello all - newbie here with a question related to my hunt for a 240 Sundeck. How can you find out if the previous owner also turned in the trailer? Looking at an 02 that had recently been traded in and was not even cleaned up yet. Originally the salesman said he thought it came with the trailer but needed to confirm. Later he told me he found it did not, but one of the documents he sent me was the trade inspection report which also lists the trailer.

He has been very good about answering questions, sending inspection/repair reports, compression tests, etc., and my neighbor bought from him and has very good feedback. I don't want to assume they are trying to keep the trailer to sell separately, but he is aware we have a lake house with a boat dock and are not planning to travel with it. If the trailer is listed on the inspection report then it should go with the boat correct?

Any feedback/suggestions appreciated.

That's a tough one... it's kind of a he said, she said situation and you will likely never know the true answer. It could be that the previous owner sold the trailer so the documents you looked at could very well refer to a trailer. A friend of mine did that...bought a boat with a trailer and got tired of storing it next to his cabin all summer so he sold it and invested the money from the trailer into his cabin and boat.

A couple other thoughts that could explain the situation...

The "inspection" report sounds like what we would call a "check for trade". Basically, a thorough "goings over" to evaluate the overall condition of the rig. BUT, it's not a sales listing. So maybe it was determined that the trailer was in poor shape and they decided to scrap it. Maybe they had another use for the trailer or had a buyer lined up for the trailer (only). Is there an actual sales listing for the boat on their website, or something? What does it say in the listing?

Maybe I'm missing something but why would the dealer be obligated to include the trailer even if it was part of the trade in? They are offering a boat for sale without trailer at a certain price. If you like the price for the boat you buy it or make a counteroffer. The terms of the trade in are irrelevant to the resale.

I wouldn't always expect a trailer to come with the boat - tons of boats are sold without a trailer, and it's usually an option for a new boat. I have a trailer for mine, but really wish I didn't, the boat hasn't been on it in several years, and I store it at a friends place 100 mi. away. I dry store my boat and don't have a good tow vehicle, next boat I won't even get a trailer. It just depends on how your are planning to use the boat, when we kept it at our lake house, it was nice to have the trailer, I used it do do maintenance vs trying to work on the lift. If you want a trailer, tell the dealer, I would think they would find a suitable one and work it into the deal.

Thanks for all the feedback and apologize for the delay in following up as the holidays have been crazy. First the good news - Christmas came early as we closed on the boat! Will get pics uploaded soon. I guess my confusion about the trailer was due to it being listed on the inspection report. Spoke with the dealer and the trailer was used from one of their other locations when they brought it here. We don't really need it as we have the dock at the lake house, don't have a vehicle to tow it and don't plan on traveling with it. They are finishing a few small things the surveyor found and will deliver it to us in the new year - can't wait for spring to get it in the water!

New to group. Purchased a 2008 240 Sundeck end of season last year. I need help! How do you install the sun lounger upfront? It seems like there should be a support, board, something (even thought it might be the table) - help! Need lounging area for wife before it gets into season. Thanks.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the forum!

You should have 3 plastic boards that fit into a lip around the bow seating,
roughly 18x30" each. There is a notch on the edge, just under the bow cushions. Mine were (and are) stored in the storage locker under the bow seats. The pad folds in half and fits in there nicely as well. I always caution guests not to stand on the center area, too much weight can bend them and then they fall through to the deck. If yours are missing, you can make a cardboard template and cut some out of starboard. There are pictures by someone else on this forum that did it.

I would search the boat. Under the helm, deep in the ski locker, or back in the port stern undersea storage. There are lots of places the could have slid.

Welcome about. Yep what he said :)
No support just the boards.

Anyone interested in a custom made Sunbrella Bow tent for a 08 240 SD.
Look at my photo album for pictures of it.
I sold my boat about 4 years ago and just realized I still have the Bow tent. It is in like new condition and has not been used since 2010.
It is very well made and would like for this tent to get used instead of just sit in my basement.
If interested PM me with an offer or for more information.

I just moved to house with a boat lift for my 2003 240 Sundeck! I always dry docked before.

What is the space between bunks (centerline to centerline) that I should space them?

Should they be parallel to each other or closer in the front?

Is this info available on Sea Ray website?
Or
Should I call them? number?

Thanks in advance!

Just bought a 2002 240 Sundeck. We've been in a boat club for a couple of years and decided to take the plunge. The boat is in close to mint condition and has the 5.7L and I got up to 47-48 mph (GPS)during our sea trial! I've learned a great deal already from reading this thread.

I've driven many different boats over the last two years being a very active member of a boat club and I have to say that the SeaRay drove better than almost all of them. I was really impressed with how well it rides and how solid it feels when you hit some chop.... and man, it's pretty fast :)

We'll be dry-stacking on Lake Norman in NC.

Congrats on the new house. The bunks on your lift should be very similar to the bunks on your trailer. Parallel and on a smooth part of the hull, not on the stakes. Sorry I'm not near the boat to get you an exact measurement.

I do not have a trailer for my 240 Sundeck - my marriage is not strong enough to trailer a boat and argue at the boat ramp

I'll be dry stacking at Skipper's Landing (Morningstar Marinas) off Perth Road (I live like 3-4 minutes from there).

I've done the Aquaventure boat club over in Sherrill's Ford the last 2 years (Which is a GREAT club BTW.... would highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to own their own boat)
