Hey Dave I'm still looking for a way to add AC to my 240, let me know if you found out how it can be done.
Be careful I've heard that slipping between bigger boat can be a major problem on the wallet
But seriously your 260 looks great

The air conditioning unit isn't the problem Chuck..............trying to find a long enough power cord to keep it working when you leave the dock is the real issue.

What do you mean, my 1000W wont run it. :smt043

Hi Chuck,

GREAT PICS! The camping canvas is exactly what I was thinking. It's nice to be able to see what it would look like. After looking at the pictures, I'm thinking of taking a day and going out on the boat this week.

Dave, thanks for the reply. That is great information; exactly what I was looking for. We're still torn, but still have a year or two to decide. :) But we'll probably stick with a bowrider for the the 2nd boat, for reasons you say. We love to cruise around (did some of that yesterday) and also love watersports (did some of that too yesterday), so a larger bowrider sounds like the ticket for the time being.

We're thinking about going to the Annapolis on-water boat show this weekend, but I'm kind of afraid...I don't want to be any more tempted than I already am looking at brochures and pictures of other people's boats!

Glad you I could help. I've started a new site with some of my trips and boat pictures. Just remember a bad on the water is better than a good day at work. and make sure you don't take to cell phone with you when the boss calls :smt043

I know how you feel Gunn, I wish SeaRay would come back with the small sport Overnighter or SunSport. You can still get a 240 SunSport outside of the US. It is on SeaRays International site. Would be the best of both worlds Cruising and water sports for the kids. Watch out for those boat show, they can really get you in trouble--- Common Cell phone call from the show--"Honey how much is in the account, just put a deposit down on the new boat, it was such a good deal" :smt043

chuck1, there is always the 290 Sunsport... if all goes well, it's likely my next craft.

Yes the 290 Sunsport is a sweet boat  Only problem would have to get a bigger tow vehicle

Gunn,

Brent Jones will probably chime in. As I remember, his will break 50 mph. I think he has the 6.2 liter engine.

50 to 51 should normally a best in ideal conditions with what now is the largest motor from SR. With my stock 7.4 it would do 48-49 just about any day with our normal load. A 6.2 should do about the same if not 1 MPH more just based on the weight savings. After some engine mods mine would do 50-52 on a good day and that was with an estimated 350-375 HP. I think that's why SR still won't offer a 496. It'll put it out of the price point and really doesn't give you much more performance.

With the new motor, I'm still dealing with prop issues (cavitation burn) but with a normal summer load and in 102 temps this summer it still did about 64. I'm on another prop combo which feels much better and actually has increased cruise and top end speeds a little.

Fuel consumption always comes up so let me dispell the myth now. I don't burn any more, and sometimes maybe less, that I ever did, as long as I stay out of the throttle. I can make the fuel gauge move if I want to, but I can also get up on plane and to a nice comfortable cruise speed and never break 2800 RPM if I wanted to. Open the secondaries for long and at 5000 RPM I can drain the tank!

Ahoy SRO guys!

I was a member at SRO for a few months and got a lot of great info from a bunch of you. My uncle had bought this boat brand new with every option but didn't have much time to use it. I bought it from him last month with 70 hours on it! She's been stored in a garage all her life and I squeezed her into the tandem side of my 3 car garage. Been out a few times already and have been lovin' it!

Kinda ironic...the day I brought it home is the day I got the e-mail from Jeremy about the site closure.

Anyhow, figured I'd add my 240 to the thread!

Welcome aboard. Great looking boat. What year is your 240?

Wow, neat. That doesn't look like any 240 I have seen in my short SeaRay/boating life... :)

Ok it looks like we have got the whole line up here 1996 to 2006s. Any 2007 boats out there yet? What size engine and out-drive type is in the 96?

The 1996 had four options...the only outdrive was the Alpha I. They also all used the 5.7 (350 V8) but there were 3 carb versions and one fuel injected versions. I have the 250hp EFI 5.7. The other HP ratings started at 210.

My closest lake, Lake Castaic, has 35 MPH limit on it. I've taken it up to 35 but still have a lot of RPM room so I figure it will do 40 to 45mph.

Correction - In looking at the specification sheet for a stock power package, looks like the default motor was a 4.3, 180hp engine.

Anyone know the first year the body changed from mine?

Here are a couple more pictures...squeezed into my garage! :)
