Helping friend purchase a 2003 240 Sundeck. Would like comments and advice from users that own this boat.
1. Overall, good boat model and year?
2. What is the main difference between this model/year and a current 260 Sundeck, besides the price?
3. Performance: Std engine OK. Does it perform better with the upgraded 300hp? Top end speed? Pull skiers OK?
4. Ride? Boat will be used on Lake Geneva. How does it ride/perform on lake waves and chop?
5. Would the same size bow rider be a better boat/ride?
6. Any known problems with this model and year?
7. Advise on determining what is worth (web sites, ,etc).
Thanks for all your help.

Tell us some more about the options it has. IMHO - The 240SD has been a hit since the design change in 2000.

1. All the 240SD since 2000 are pretty much the same.
2. 260SD and 240SD where basically the same boat until the current 2010 year.
3. Standard 260 okay as long as boat was not heavily loaded. 300 works great.
4. Can't bet the ride.
5. Not in my humble option. The SD will be a heaver boat than the BRs.

I have a '06 with the 300hp Bravo 3. Love it Love it love it. It will pull my 250# frame up on a slalom with 10 people on board.
Plenty of power. Tops out at 52 or so. We liked the layout of this boat better than any in this size range, and the deep V hull gives a nicer ride than the shallow Glastrons and other boats out there. We have had ours on ROUGH water on a windy holiday weekend, and my wife never complained about the ride. She used to on our older 22 ft wellcraft.

The new 260 I believe is the same hull, but has a few cockpit changes, including a rear facing back bench for use at anchor. It is my understanding that the 240 was Sea Rays best selling boat for years. In my opinion it is the best 24' out there for a family day cruising all around boat.

Of course you should read the 240 SD thread. Lots of good advice there.http://www.clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401&page=66

I'll just ad, the 240 Sundeck handles big water like a much bigger boat. It's very solid.

As for power, they're proped right for every power level so unless top speed is an issue, they're fine. But like any boat, the more power the better. I'm a little biased in that area though.
