Hello. I have a '76 240 SRV that needs some TLC. I am looking at doing a restoration on the boat as it was my childhood family boat. It does run (well), but my compression is not even across all cylinders. The lower unit does have a problem as well.
What I would like to do is a repower and new drive for it. Is there a common configuration (engine size and outdrive)? It currently has a Ford 351W 277 hp and an 888 outdrive. All original.
one consideration is that i run this in saltwater, Gulf of Mexico in FL. Is a closed system even an option and does it make sense to do that?
