I am still learning my way around my 2006 240 Sundancer, purchased last month and launched April 1st. Slept on the boat for the first time last weekend and had trouble getting the tabletop to stay in place under the V-berth.

So, the tabletop is used to support the center v-berth cushion. When putting the tabletop in place, it seems to hit the galley, but I eventually get it to sit on the mounts; however, any pressure on the left side (galley side) makes the tabletop fall to the floor. This was a very frustrating experience.

Am I doing something wrong? Nothing appears to be broken on the the tabletop or mounts. Is there a trick to setting the top so it supports weight?

I would really appreciate any insights from those familiar with this setup.

Thanks in advance for your help!

My '06 240s was awkward. You had to watch where you knelt... and the center filler cushion would slide out at the first sign of action in there...

I put Velcro along the edges and on the white support piece that goes across the long side, this keeps the table top from falling out. The cushion still moves around so I think I’ll use a pad made for holding wood when sanding.

We had a 2001 240 DA and here is what we did.. I cut a pc of 3/4 plywood to fit in that spot the fit snug. Next using our cushions as templated we had additional coshions made in 2 pcs that beacme the mattress. cost was $250.00 for everything inculding removeable washable covers. This made the bed workable for us.. the stock cushions are too thin IMO.

sswall,
Do you have the crossbar piece of wood? It sounds like you aren't pushing it far enough forward to engage the side braces enough. I'll be aboard my boat this weekend and if I remember will take pictures of mine for you. They should be similar enough.

Thanks for your replies. I have an update after revisiting the problem this weekend. First off, I am an idiot as I did not realize there was a crossbar. After looking at the setup in the daylight, I noticed the notches on each side, then searched and found the crossbar.

After inserting the crossbar, it appears to support my weight; however, the tabletop fit could be better and I will take some of your suggestions to clean that up.

No wonder it fell out!
That's funny man!

You will notice that the table top wants to slide aft when you are, ... how should I say this,... sleeping. I put two screws in the brace and drilled two holes in the bottom of the table top to match. This stablized the assembly enough for its intended purpose. And when you discover that you will never ever use that table top as such, you can screw the table top to the sides and be done with the hassle.
