So just a quick question. I've been having some issues with new to me 230br shifting hard and getting stuck occasionally shifting in and out of gear at the docks.

I narrowed it down to the quicksilver 3000 shifter. I plan on replacing it with a teleflex ch1752 and gen 2 cables.

However i see a lot of places selling the chx8052p as well, some interchanging the products on their website. Are they both universal replacements? I see the handle design is different on both. I want to make sure either or both will work for me. Going on a 1999 sea ray 230br with mercruiser 7.4 and bravo 3.

How did you determine it is the shifter? When was the last time the shift cables have been replaced?

If your engine is not dropping to the correct idle speed, it can also cause these symptoms.

Not sure as I just bought it last year.

Disconnected cables and it cleared some, but there's definitely still some stickiness there disconnected. Figured I might as well use gen 2 cables and get a new shifter rather than rebuild a subpar, 22 year old shifter assemby.

Gotcha, I haven’t had the issue with the shifter, mine has always been the shift cables, or the lower shift cable

Don't forget there's a friction adjustment in there as well. Doubt it's the shifter unless it has over a thousand hours on it.
