Have a 2008 230BR Select, only used 5 times 1st year. First time out last week stereo would not turn on at all. Evertything else worked except the horn. When I put the boat up for the winter last year I took out batteries, don't know if this had anything to do with it or not. I've checked all fuses, contections, and the breaker. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I live 500 miles from the dealership where I purchased the boat.

Some Clarion receivers have a anti theft protection scheme that requires a password (four digit number) to be entered after power has been disconnected.

Are you sure you checked *all* the fuses? Many boats have an extra stereo fuse for the memory that is not hooked through the battery switch. Speaking from experience, if this fuse is blown, the stereo will not work at all. Look for an inline fuse holder labeled "stereo memory" or something similar if you haven't already checked for it.

The said inline fuse is normally near the battery selector switch

There have been a few threads on this issue lately. I found this one which may help:

There was another one that described an issue with rebooting the system when power has been disconnected. It was as simple as pressing a few buttons on the face of the stereo. It had nothing to do with sirius satellite and it was a stock clarion unit that was discussed. I just don't remember what model # and the "search" engine on this site leaves alot to be desired. Good Luck! Todd

There is a cable that attaches to the battery threaded positive post with a wing nut. Make sure that it is connected. The first time I disconnected my battery, this cable fell behind the battery and I did not see it and forgot about it. It is the main power to your stereo.

That cable with the wing nut is connected. Got behind the stereo head unit and the red cable has power the yellow memory cable doesn't light my tester up, so no power. Checked the memory fuse in the rear compartment it's ok. There isn't a seperate yellow cable off the battery there's a breaker in that same back compartment and it's not tripped so I don't know. I'm 500 miles from the dealer so I hate to make that trip. Called them to ask about a code to reboot the unit they said there isn't one so I've checked everything I can think of. Thanks in advance for any help, greatly appreciated it.

charge battery and probably will start working. all new clarions shut down with low voltage (safety feature to save your starting battery). if it doesn't work with fully charged battery check both fuses and ground wire.
